“This review is about my experience getting the expansion valve angled correctly upon installation of a new boiler in an old V2 silvia. It worked, but...
Key advice: Don't throw out the old washers, you may need them.
The challenge of the valve installation is that it must angle a certain way for all tubing to reach it, but this angle is dictated by the amount of tightening and the washer thicknesses.
For me, neither the (R_137) stainless washer or new copper washer (R_1022) could be used, alone or sandwiched together. Using the new parts (new boiler, new washers, and old valve body) I could only tighten the valve to the correct angle when I sandwiched one stainless and one copper washer together on the valve side. However, this resulted in a slow leak. So instead I reused the old squished washer that I had saved during disassembly. This looked thinner by a hair than the new copper washer. Using only this washer, I was able to tighten the valve to the correct angle with no drips.
Second tip: tightening to the final angle involved going about 90 degrees past the point I would have stopped for fear of stripping threads. As far as I can tell they did not strip out. Proceed at your own risk..”
