The Rancilio Silvia 110V Boiler & Heating Element was recently offered by Espresso Parts for a considerable lower price than from other stores. “I have a version 1 Rancilio Silvia machine with an updated boiler that needed replacement. The gasket had disintegrated and the leak was where the boiler's bottom meets the group head. There were challenges but not from Espresso Parts. They are quick and can even help over the phone on technical stuff. Between various on-line youtube videos and some new tools (metric hex key drivers) and such, I had success in replacement and getting the Silvia working again fine.”
“My Silvia, purchased in 2100, was leaking around the bottom of the boiler. It was working fine, but it appeared that the gasket failed. Not too hard to get the thing apart, but removing the boiler was complicated because the hoses were firmly tightened, and I was afraid that I would bend the brass parts if I pulled the wrenches. I found I could unscrew the water inlet to the boiler and get it apart that way. Found "sand", evidence that the heating coil was leaking. So, I ordered the replacement unit. There was a brass washer in the water inlet line, and that probably should have been replaced. But I reused it. Seems not to leak. The kit included exactly the correct new connecting wires, which made the final job easy and looked much better. Good news: the Espresso machine works well. I suspect that replacing the new (screw in) heater, when needed, will not be much simpler than this job. Probably the real improvement in the new design is that there is no lead in that new part—the original part was "brazed". So, that is good. Like usual, Espresso Parts, shipped the correct stuff and shipped that promptly. Good service!”
“the new ( V4 ) stile boiler came with a removeable heat coil. Good move I hope too never have to replace it but if i do it should only be the coil at half cost the whole unit. THANKS”
