Smx-6 V2 Gore-Tex Boots 6.5 / Black/Black Reviews

4 Rating 1 Reviews
It is this SMX-6 V2 Goretex boot, or the FULCRUM 3 GORE-TEX BOOTS. The SMX aren't as adjustable for the calf, so there will be a goldilox calf size. If adjust the side velcro tight, it will wrinkle on the upper, and can catch on the bike as the closure is on the INSIDE, not outside. If you adjust the closure smooth up and down, it is a loose fit to skinner calfs than a speciific girth. That might be you. My calfs may be too small. I'm a 140 pound body and the boot seems to want a 200 pound body with calf girth to match. I am just not in this boots girth model it seems. The size is EU 44 for my 10.5 US foot. The 45 suggested is too big. I sent the 45 back and am stuck condidering my option which seems to be the Dianese Fulcrum 3 Gortex. The SMX 6 V2 are CE 2,2,2,1 based on the undisclosed CE test values in any US literature. The boots ink printed pictoglyph for CE shows the actual ratings. I was told it was "2", it isn't. I may have to go with the Dianese FULCRUM 3 GORE-TEX BOOTS for the upper calf adjustmen(s) on each side. The fulcrum 3 are also all leather uppers, not synthetic stuff. That may matter. Leather just wears well. No questions there. Leather can be silicone sealed to improve water resistance for those in a lot of rain. The Gortex is INSIDE either boot so the leather can be soaking wet unless it is silicone sealed too. You can't seal synthetics, but they supposedly are water repellant by nature. Wear is the key, leather is best but is usually heavier all thicknesses the same. I still give the SMX-6 series a good rating if the calf fit is in your girth range (not too small, the boots hate that). They are well made and thoughfully designed for the size audience they fit. I'm just not it.
