“Super honest review here
I have both bought cheap recordable buttons and these from Fluent Pet and have since made a few discoveries.
Pro
+ small, take less space
+ hextiles keep them from flinging around the whole room. Cardboard with the cheap buttons did nothing. This helped my dog learn to be calmer when interacting with the buttons and be more precise with his paws, which would have otherwise taken a lot longer.
+ the side button keeps my dog from rerecording the message which helped him with training and was a problem with the cheap ones which halted the training for my other dog.
+ the hextiles are what I expected and do their job
+ looks
+ free guide and help on how to get started
Cons
- they are small which is an adjustment
- the sound is muffled in the hextiles. The cheap ones are much louder. Without the hextiles they are about the same volume, maybe a little quieter. I may snip holes in the bottom of the tiles.
- the sound quality from the cheap ones is a small touch better
- I have the soft hextiles since I couldn't choose the hard top ones and if your pet is a scratcher or biter, these would be destroyed in a matter of seconds. I was luckily able to redirect his energy onto his toys since he wanted to play and he has calmed down significantly in touching the buttons.
- price, though all buttons are expensive and these ones are actually not that much more expensive if you just look at the buttons. But the combination with the hextiles it becomes a bit more expensive. But when you think about it, it is normal to also pay for a product like the hextiles, which if you look at it that way, makes the buttons not that much more expensive than other ones. And they are the only ones on the market with the side button, smaller size and tiles.
Conclusion: I am quite happy with my purchase though I hope that at least the sound issues in combination with the hextiles will be resolved in the future. And maybe cheaper shipping costs for big purchases. The price is on the more expensive side, though with all the added pros I can justify it. You also get the free information, tips and forum to teach your pet.
I also hope more of the products and newer versions from the American site will come to Europe too.”
“I’m very pleased with the service. One of the buttons stopped working and they contacted me to have it replaced within warranty. Great customer support.”
“Great little kit, good start. LOVE being able to allow our dog to communicate with us in our language. He is enjoying it and is picking up the idea quite quickly. Ideally, the backing on the boards could be a little more grippy to the ground, but rug grippers have sorted that out. Everything's great quality and you do get what you pay for, but pricing is a little prohibitive. We'll add more buttons, but it'll take some time because the price is up there.”
“I had batteries die of one of the test buttons not long after receiving the kit. And it was the least frequently used button (so far) to boot. That honestly should not happen.
Also not had much luck trying to get my cat to press the buttons so far, I think the quick guide is very comprehensive in setting buttons up but getting a cat to target press a button may need to be included. But YT has helped out in that regard.”
“The buttons really are small and very easy to press. The buttons gave audible instructions how to record, but those instructions weren't complete. The manual explained it better.”
