“I'm 45 years old and have never ridden a skateboard, as my dad saw a neighbour kid fall off and break his arm when I was 10 years old. Thought skateboards were for crazy people with a death wish. The Carbon GT has certainly changed my mind. First day out hitting speeds of 20 km/h and carving the pavement had a minor crash but all good. The more I ride it the more I love it. Best $2g spent ever...”
“l live in chch but work in AKL where i stay in a flat 2.5km from my office. its a big hike up the hill from the bottom of parnell to the top of newmarket and walking to work left me sweating like a pig. ... so i invested in an CGT with the AT and regular street wheels - it came with the AT wheels on which are perfect for the sidewalk with its irregular surface, kerbs etc. so I haven't tried the street wheels yet - but with the AT wheelset this thing absolutely cranks up the hill and feels super stable with its wide wheel track and long wheel base. it carves more like a snowboard than a skateboard (although in the interest of full disclosure: Im pushing 50 and havent ridden a skateboard since the early 1980s:) and the supple feel in the trucks allows for amazing control / carving.
Day 1: scary stuff. tried the GT mode and fell right on my ass. dropped down to eco - good as gold. went into fast mode up the hill and it absolutely cranked. I was kind of nervous and quite stiff / uncomfortable due to lack of confidence, but I made it into the office (and back home) in one piece.
Day 2: much more confident /not as nervous, but still a bit tense in my stance
Day 3: totally relaxed, carving up the hill in the bus lane full tilt in fast mode and smiling from ear to ear
Day 4: took the long way to work through the CBD - some cramping (but only my cheek muscles, from excessive smiling). explored a bunch of side streets and parks on the way home - panning on picking up some potassium and magnesium supplements for the cheek cramping
this board is a total game changer - no parking woes, and turns the morning and afternoon commutes into an adrenalin filled buzz - I'm totally hooked and will be buying one to keep at my house in christcurch”
“Hello, thanks for the opportunity to review. Ordered a Carbon GT, received a Bamboo GT. Decided to keep it, and difference in price was immediately sorted, however the glossy feeling of my expensive purchase was tainted. Have a clicking noise in one of the motors, but Evolve staff have been really helpful. Bamboo GT is a great board, sometimes (probably one time in 3 long rides) loses connection, had the white screen on remote once. Ridden the board every day since I received it, and absolutely love it. Great product, great support. Would love to try the Carbon GT, and would also love to have had the extra battery life.”
“My wife picked up my new CGT about a week ago, I've been away on a business trip and arrived home today to find my wife had the batteries all charged up and ready to go. Having purchased the 2in1, this afternoon I took it for a blast around the streets at home. WOW! Perfect remote communications and soooo much power! Starting with ECO mode, I soon switched up to FAST and carved the streets... man this thing is fast! The board managed 20KM with the AT's mostly on FAST mode. Tonight I changed out the AT wheels for the ABEC 11 97mm wheels and tomorrow I'll give it another crack to check the difference in range. I purchased from the local Perth dealer, my only disappointment is the underside of my carbon board featured lots of scratches and the Evolve check list had a tick to say it was free from scratches? Otherwise I'm wrapped!”
“Delivery was fast, board is heaps of fun. Acceleration in GT mode is great.
If I could change one thing, I would like a higher top speed. With 97mm flywheels on it can get to about 43km/h on the flat which is sort of fast, but it would be better if it could go 60ish so it could keep up with traffic better”
