“The 18XL Bodyguard fits really well and took me less than 2 minutes to put on by myself. I got the all black bodyguard and it looks great on my wheel. I’ve been practicing going backwards in a grassy area near my house and have dropped the wheel several times in the week I’ve had the cover. The main neoprene has held up really well (and dirt wipes off very easily), but the bottom edges of the bodyguard are already showing some noticeable signs of wear (but better the bodyguard than my wheel!). Overall I’m very pleased with my purchase.”
“This cover is super good, and really improves with some well placed mounting tape - considering I got it as a free add on with the wheel, I should give it 5 stars. So why 4?
The first two days I was riding, whenever this when down (nothing major, but it did roll down a grass hill or two) the cover really got disorganized on the unit and had to be re-arranged. I'm sure there's a reason why the grabber tabs that hook around the bottom are so small, but I just couldn't get all four to stay in place, especially when the unit was agitated.
So before the going out for my third day, I pulled up the cover a few inches all the way around - placed six 3" strips of mounting tape around the bottom (two on each side, one front, one back - then pulled the cover back into place and smoothed it down. Honestly? I didn't think it would make a big difference - but I took the hardest spills yet today, and the cover never moved! The tape worked.
I'm also planning on mounting some foam pieces to this cover in key places for better braking, acceleration and (perhaps?) leverage for jumping. This will take even more mounting tape, and I've got some industrial strength on its way to further fortify the cover And place the foam over the top. If I do this, I will likely post a youtube vid with my results (drtalos)
So it's really good, but with just a little mounting tape - it's performance really improved for me. And I am really glad to have this - it's saved my unit some serious scratches.”
