“I spent many days deliberating as to which EUC should be my first. I decided to go with the V8F and I think I made a wise decision. It's light, nimble, fast enough, and has more than enough range for my needs. I would highly recommend this model to anyone starting out.”
“Overall, I am enjoying the 'wheel'. It is built very durable. I like the handle feature and having the cover as I learned how to ride. I don't quite understand why the cover has an opening for the front light but not for the back/break light.
My issues have been mostly with the app and firmware elements from inmotion. The app downloaded OK but has way too much crap related to being social. I just want to see and follow the stats of the ride. The one ride, the GPS had me going about 40 miles when I really only went about 3. It's difficult to navigate to the different elements. I don't find it intuitive. I am regularly mixing up whether to go to 'vehicle', 'me', or the settings icon to make adjustments or look for updates. I haven't figured out how to get the lights on the body to work yet. In my efforts, the app shuts down.
When I submitted a ticket to get help, I got an email telling me to submit a ticket to get help. So I did that again. I will say that they responded pretty quick. I'm still working through updates of the app version, firmware, and lights will be next.
The wheel is fun and solid. It's the app that is overthought. I suggest making a simplified functional version that has only english text and have an optional 'social' version for that that are into that.
I hope this helps.”
“The V8F is all the great things I have heard about it in other reviews and Youtube videos. Now that I have learned how to ride it enough to know I don't know enough, the excitement of this new technology is bringing the kid out of me. I feel like I did when I first learned to ride a bike and the freedom that comes with it.”
“i've never done this before but have had a great time trying to learn, keeping the case on has allowed me to minimize the amount of scratches it gets when i inevitably have to bail!”
“Has a very specific use case!
If you are driving flat and/or straight surfaces where it is clear what the terrain is then maybe the V8F is ok; however, that is not my situation.
I live in SF and this thing is a death trap if you deal with commutes in and around the core of the city such as nob hill, union square, financial district or anywhere in the vicinity. As soon as I get to an area like the embarcadero , market street or some place with a bike lane yes things are fine otherwise having to navigate traffic with it's skinny wheel, poor acceleration and taller body which has a higher center of gravity vs KS or Gotway this thing gets way too squirrelly. I don't know how many times the wheel would hit a small rut and become immediately unstable or throw me off, if you have to travel at slower speeds in these conditions this thing is pretty much garbage.
Oh and if you are like me and watched several glowing reviews, go look at all those reviews and where they are being ridden, all of them are like on boardwalks or some plaza walkway or various areas where everything is flat, straight and long stretches.
Advice if you are starting out and thinking something like this is a safer bet, reconsider! Get something with a larger tire, several recent models have moved to 3', and more power primarily for better acceleration from a stopped position. I also wouldn't recommend inmotion, the center of gravity on their designs makes them less stable compared to the others. Only thing I can figure is they are going for a more nimble trick like chassis which maybe it is good for.”
“I'm just a regular guy. No plans to do extreme sports or anything crazy with these EUCs. I need it for work. Just wanted a smart, practical, and convenient way to get from point A to point B... with style ;) .If you want a technical review, look somewhere else. Better yet, do your own due diligence, what fits your needs and your character as a rider. But for those like me, I can tell you, already holding this thing and riding it a few times... there is NONE other in its class that can give you the features, the looks, and weight (32+ lbs, yes I did weigh it) for this size of tire. One of the most practical and still portable EUCs! and even looks... elegant/classy. Inmotion EUCs, to me truly does deliver the best value for your money. No regrets here. Thank you Jason and eWheels team for your great service.”
“My replacement wheel is a pleasure to ride, light, quick and agile. I have nothing but nice things to say about the wheel and Jason's customer service.”
