“It's heavy, but it's a long range, highly durable beast! I'm 6'4"/200lbs, 2kw is plenty to start but I already wish I had more for hill climbing. Maybe a smaller when would have more torque, but I need an even larger wheel for better roll over... I've ridden lots of Rocky two track and single track and it's taken several nasty tumbles but keeps on ticking. Speakers are fun, a bit lacking in bass. The Android app does work pretty well, but crashes a lot. The handle is awesome, the xl pedals are really nice, maybe even a bit too wide now that I keep my ankles in closer to the wheel. Motor has a nice whine to it, not silent but not loud at all. Motor sounds a bit ratchety at very low, high torque moments but I think that's normal. 80 mi range seems accurate, this thing goes forever! I wish it had a battery guage on top, and an option for a seat. Seems like there's also room for improvement on control algorithm for steep and long ascents and descents, i find myself recalibrating the horizontal to keep from having to lean so far forward to get it to go uphill faster without the pedals getting too low. It did get quite hot on a long climb of around 3000', but I was pushing it hard and it gave me an over power warning, so I hopped off, cooled the aluminum rim with snow and it descended just fine after that. It does have an ever so slight wobble/runout that is more audible than palpable at high speeds which makes me wonder if the rim is a bit out of true as I've heard some euc's can be, but I haven't checked. Overall a solid ride, great for commuting and goes off road pretty well!”
“I just upgraded to the KS 18XL from my Solowheel Glide 3 (InMotion V8) and I have zero regrets about spending $2150 to do so. To upgrade to an advanced wheel has finally untethered me to explore for hours at a time that I could not do with a limited battery. The difference in distance with the 18XL is nothing short of amazing. I weigh 180lbs, and I can travel up steep hills for miles. Within 24 hours of owning the wheel, however, I leaned into a hill too far and triggered the circuit breaker and bit the chew pretty bad going 25mph. I had wrist guards and helmet, but said "I don't need knee pads for where I'm going." Big mistake! If you are new to advanced wheels and are unfamiliar with faster speeds, be careful and don't get cocky! My wheel was scuffed pretty good and the rubber mud guard was completely destroyed, and I had to buy a new one. The wheel still works perfectly after my tumble. Its fast, and I cant stress enough the distance you can travel without eating up the battery on this wheel. I recommend a fast charger, the battery bank is so large it can take well over 12 hours to charge a battery of about 40% on the standard charger. The headlight at night is very bright, and a supplemental flashlight is not needed in many instances. I didn't like the strobe mode at first, but now seeing how much other drivers notice me with the strobe on, I feel significantly safer that cars can see me (you can use the app to change headlight to On, OFF, and STROBE). The trolley handle works really well, and is not too high like I thought it would be from pictures. The pick up sensor has worked flawlessly for me, I've read others have had issues with it but I've had no problems. The speakers are good enough, it's funny to hear Google Maps announce directions from the wheel when I'm cruising around town ("In 1000 feet, turn left."). The entire machine is of the highest quality materials and build strength. Nothing about it seems cheap. If you are looking for an upgraded wheel that can go the distance, this wheel is for you!”
“I commute 6.5km each way on an EUC and frequently take longer rides (as battery allows)... My previous EUC was a SoloWheel Glide3 (aka InMotion V8). It was a great starter wheel, but this, the KS18XL, is an awesome upgrade! It's larger and heavier, but also much more stable, smooth and fast! Because of its stability, it's easy to ride.
As I ride in bike lanes and on multi-use paths, I previously rode, most of the time, at the V8's limit (28-30 kph) and thus almost constantly with some pedal tiltback (ie, sore feet) and with precious little buffer before the speed alarm. Conversely, with the KS18XL, I ride very comfortably in the same lanes/paths at 30-35 kph with tons of buffer before the speed alarm (which I have currently set to 40 kph -- where the wheel's max is 50 I think). Also with the KS18XL I no longer hold up bikes that are following me down hills. So I am more comfortable, ride better, and feel safer.
Downsides? I heard the pedals were stiff but on mine they have a definite down and up setting and are fine. The BT speaker isn't great for music, but it's nice and loud for the speed warning. The app is OK but I would like control of the voices ("bleu tooth is off"!?!?). The BT connection to my phone often drops (while the phone is my pocket) so not all my rides are fully instrumented/ recorded. I love the colour LEDs, the headlight and the brake light! The handle seems fine. I found that the motor disconnect sensor works best if the wheel is at a full stop. I can't tell you how it crashes (although other owners say it's very tough)... I've only had it a week and only have 200 km on it. Oh, and I love the long range. It means I don't have to charge it every day, and I can go on a 20 km ride even if I only have 50% charge.
I short, I love it. I recommend getting a smaller/cheaper wheel to learn on, but if you need a commuting wheel (or don't need something ultra agile), the KS18XL is awesome!”
“Finally got this amazing wheel against all odds :)
Wheel itself is great! Very powerful, stable, requires a bit practice to get used to but definitely worth it!
A few comments.
Please download KingSong app from KingSong off. site it's not available on app store. When connecting very first time to the wheel make sure that GPS IS ENABLED (!!). Stupid, yes, but without that app will not connect. After, for the following sessions u can omit GPS, but not for the very first, when u need to register wheel.
Also, consider setting password on your wheel to avoid any unpleasant situations”
“An absolutely fantastic wheel. I have just over 300 miles on my KS18XL and I couldn't be happier with it. The larger battery pack completely removes any "range anxiety" that I have had with other wheels. The larger battery lasts me a week of riding between charges. The trolly handle is fantastic, speakers solid, and makes a great cruiser! I typically ride below about 24mph as I like to ride with less gear. It's nice to know there is a huge capability above that should I ever needed it. Particularly on hill climbs. If you are on the fence, hopefully this will push you over to buy one. You won't regret it!”
“This is my first eWheel, in other words, my "learning wheel". I weigh 265 pounds so I needed a beefy one. The KS18XL has taken a beating. I've dropped it a dozen times at least, and it's fine. It has tons of power (even at my weight level). There hasn't (yet) been a time when I wanted more speed or more acceleration. Scary fast. The excellent trolley handle is super useful. Can't imagine buying a wheel without one. Be sure to get the fast charger. It gets the job done in 4 hours instead of 16, and you can choose to charge it to 80% or 90% to save battery longevity.
I went crazy with bubble wrap and gaffer's tape to protect it from the abuse it will take while I learn to ride. At least it matches my helmet!”
“The product itself is AMAZING! This is my sophomore wheel. I'm upgrading from the Ninebot One S1. I needed something faster. 13mph was getting boring. At first, I wanted the Ninebot Z10 so bad because to me, it was the best looking wheel out of the powerhouse EUCs and also because I'm comfortable with that brand already and know what to expect quality-wise...BUT...I'm so glad I didn't.
My cousin went and bought the Z10 and I tried it. I didn't like how it stayed up straight when turning. It's hard to carve with that wheel. After extensive research, I chose the King Song 18XL. I watched a YouTube video posted up by Tishawn Fahie and his video on the 18XL sold me! His riding style is similar to mine and showcasing how nimble the wheel is for its size made me want to get the 18XL. So far I love it! I have no negative things to say about it.”
