This is my first entry into the EUC world. Coming from a Onewheel XR I craved the extra power and range and was most drawn to the forward facing stance. I was concerned about the learning curve but had it mostly figured out in a few hours of solid practice. I’m a bigger guy (6’1” and 270) and the wheel seems to handle me ok. Though I’m sure it would be better with a lighter rider.

I took delivery of my KingSong 18XL six weeks ago. In that time I have put over 130 miles on the wheel and it has met or exceeded all of my expectations. When I received the KingSong 18XL, I was still learning to ride on a KingSong 14D. Being a taller and heavier rider with larger feet, I found an immediate difference in comfort and stability riding the 18XL. Eventually I became a competent enough rider to really put the 18XL through some tests. I’ve taken it on smooth pavement, rough pavement, off-road, up hills, and down hills. Through all of my riding the 18XL has easily handled anything I’ve thrown at it. Additionally the bigger 18 inch wheel along with the XL size pedals provides a very smooth and stable ride. One of my first impressions after unboxing the 18XL was that this is a very solid wheel with top-notch build quality. In my time with the wheel so far, I’ve had a few mishaps requiring me to bail and jump off the wheel. The wheel has proven to be quite durable and has only suffered a few very minor scuffs as a result. The 18XL also has some very nice amenities that I’ve been enjoying. The Bluetooth speakers are powerful enough to allow the rider and friends riding nearby to enjoy music. The quality of the sound is not the greatest but it is completely adequate for this application. The headlight is extremely bright and provides ample illumination to see the road in dark conditions. Some have said that the angle of the headlight is not optimal, but I have not personally had this issue. Lastly the trolley handle is strong and deploys to a very good height. The handle also features a lift sensor to temporarily disable the wheel’s balancing when it is lifted off of the ground. I’ve seen posts online that say the lift sensor can be unreliable but it has worked every time for me. This trolley design makes moving the wheel around simple and easy. The only two downsides I can think of for this wheel are the weight of it and the quality of the smartphone application. This wheel weighs over 50 pounds. For some this might be too heavy or unwieldy, but for me I find the weight to be almost unnoticeable when riding and just a minor annoyance if I am lifting the wheel off the ground. The smartphone application does perform the necessary features but it is not well made and it also requires you to register with KingSong to perform some operations on the wheel. Unfortunately, I understand this is a pretty common complaint across most electric unicycle manufacturers and applications, so I can’t really hold it against the 18XL specifically. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase of the 18XL. This wheel has more power, speed, and range than I will probably ever need with an awesome riding experience.

A super solid commuter machine that can go the distance, even off-road. Learning curves vary, but even the learning process is a blast. More portable and powerful than an other PEV I can think of. Seriously cannot understate the range of this thing. It just goes.

Bought a KS18L here as my 1st ever wheel and so far the experience has been awesome. The wheel itself is everything I was hoping it to be: fast, reliable and tons of fun but it's not perfect: it's heavy and the trolley to carry/roll it is a bit flimsy and since I use it a lot on my commute, it got broken eventually and that's where things can get complicated, needing replacement parts from a brand that is not widely distributed in the US but eWheels stepped up to the plate and shipped the new improved KS18XL trolley sliders in a couple days and even provided video instructions: this is awesome customer service and that's why I keep coming back as a happy ewheeler!

After recently learning to ride an EUC on a Solowheel Glide 3 / V8, I was a little bit concerned that it would be difficult to make the transition to a larger, more powerful wheel. However, the transition was really easy, and I now love the 18XL. The only issue I’ve had is that the handle lift-sensor doesn’t always work the first time (listen for the beeps), but that’s a minor issue and doesn’t take away anything from the overall great experience. The 18XL is super smooth, climbs steep hills with ease, and is very comfortable to ride. Even tight turns in small spaces have been no problem at all — it’s highly maneuverable. Even the speakers sound good. I like to use them when I’m not riding around other people. But, if there are people around, it’s more fun to listen for comments like, “Whoa! What was that!?”.

I bought this wheel as an upgrade to my King Song 16-s (which is also awesome). The range, speed, and power of this new wheel is a big improvement. The larger foot pedals add a lot of comfort over the previous generation of King Song wheels.

This wheel is amazing. The build quality is superb. Both the LED lights and the headlight/taillight are very bright. The speakers are loud and the trolley handle slides out and locks into place easily and consistently. The XL pedals are super nice too. They click into place securely when stored and when deployed. Even though the pedals are massive, the turning radius is actually tighter than my Inmotion V8 as it is noticeably harder to scrape my pedals on the 18XL. The power delivery is very smooth and the 1554Wh battery ensures that I have plenty of power in reserve so that I can accelerate hard and hit jumps without fear of a cut out. The massive battery pack also means that I no longer have to carry a fast charger with me.

I switched to 18XL from 16S, and the new one is much more powerful, which matters a lot with my weight of 250 lbs. It's literally flying. Had a little trouble with lift cut-off switch, but a calibration solved the problem. 18XL is also a bit wider than 16S, and it doesn't fit in my gym locker anymore. 18XL has better lights, more visible from the front and the back. I didn't get a chance to test its rain resistance yet, but so far I'm very happy.
