I have had my New Speedway 3 for a week now. I work in D.C. and I use it to commute two miles each way to my bus stop in a suit. The ride to the and from the bus stop has a couple of fairly good sized hills and a stretch of road where cars move along at 35 mph. Before getting the Speedway I rode my bike which required a little more time, preparation (leg straps), and effort (sweat). For me the Speedway is a perfect fit. It keeps up with the traffic on the 35 mph stretch of road and gets up the hills with ease. I had no experience with scooters previously and this one was intuitive right out of the box. The Speedway appears to be well built and there is nothing that appears to be slap-dash in its construction. I did my due diligence in research and it appears to me the battery is probably the most important system component. eWheels' push to move the manufacturer to the Lithium Ion battery made sense to me and was the clincher. The other important feature for me was a US dealer who appears to be passionate about electric commuting options. The fact that eWheels only sells two scooter brands tells me they are expert in the field and, despite the point that the Speedway represents their economy line, the fact that they put the Speedway along side their other offering speaks volumes. I especially appreciated eWheels' extensive and insightful explanations about each product. My entire purchase experience was virtual and I have nothing negative to say. eWheels was upfront on the order delays (principally due to the battery upgrade) and kept me informed along the way. Out of the box, it was apparent to me the Speedway charger was probably not going to be sufficient in the long run (it got extremely hot during the initial charging of the scooter) so I ordered the eWheels charger with the 80/90/100% charge selector. Jason and company gave me a shipping credit for the charger and it arrived a few days ago. The fast charger works as advertised (it has a fan to keep it cool) and apparently charging to 80% capacity can extend the life of the battery by up to 400%. So I think it's a wise idea to get the eWheels charger. The biggest down side on the Speedway is the manual out of the box...it doesn't translate very well. eWheels mitigates that to a degree with their on-line manual but that doesn't reflect the latest upgrades to the New Speedway 3. Moreover there was no manual for the eWheels charger so I had to piece together the appropriate setting for the Amps (not too hard). That said, none of it was rocket science and as I mentioned earlier, all was pretty intuitive. For what it is worth I'm generally not one of those people who do reviews but I figured in this case I would because I wanted to give Jason and eWheels a shoutout for the upgrades they recommended to the manufacturer and the provision of a positive customer experience. After a week, I'm a fan of the Speedway 3...it's utilitarian, well made, and gets the job done...I'm also a fan of eWheels despite the fact we have never talked directly. These guys appear to be the real deal in a sector that seems to have a number of pretenders and charlatans. I expect at some point I'm going to need some maintenance and or repair assistance with my scooter and I'm counting on eWheels to be there when that happens. I did over two months of research, waited for close to two months for delivery, and I'm extremely pleased with the New Speedway 3 and eWheels. My bet is, if you happen to trip over this review and have done a similar amount of due diligence research, this review should seal the deal for you.
