“Everyone has heard it, they guys over at eWheels are awesome. But here I am saying just the same. I ordered the Sherman as my first wheel... I know, not for everyone. But for me, I wanted to have something I was going to grow into. I knew I would love the sport and I didn’t want to get a wheel that topped out at 25 or 30 and end up spending more money and owning two wheels. So, I sold my little beater commuter car and bought the Sherman. Jason and the guys at eWheels were great since the moment I put my deposit down, I am sure they would have been beforehand too I just had only begun my interaction at that point. They were clear and constant in their communication. They knew with a deposit down and eventually with the balance paid, I would be antsy for updates and they gave them. They let me know when dates changed and why. They let me know when it is expected and always answered my questions. When the Sherman finally did come, I got an email right away indicating how to set it up and precautions to take (although with many YouTube vids under my belt, I already knew, it was great customer service). They also said due to the Sherman’s poor waterproofing at the screen, they were sending out a film to cover it with. I haven’t got this yet but they have always stood behind their word and it’s an example of the above and beyond nature of eWheels. They didn’t have to provide this. They didn’t have to charge it up so I could ride it right out of the box. They didn’t have to send me an email right once it was delivered to give me startup tips and tricks. But they did.
As far as the Sherman being my first wheel, it was honestly great to learn on for a few reasons. First, the tire width is nearly three inches! I am sure that contributed to my quick learning, within less than ten minutes I was strolling around the parking lot (albeit not like a pro but cruising none the less). My wife came out of the house to watch me and I rode it from the parking lot, across the street, up the driveway and dismounted to her surprise. She was concerned after selling my car that it would take ages for me to learn! Lol. Second, it is extremely planted. I don’t have any other wheel to compare it to but nearly everyone says this in their videos and I can see why. It feels so balanced. It is day six riding it and I am already practicing riding backwards. Again, I think the wheel deserves most of the praise as it has seemed to contribute to a quick learn. Third, I would guess most other wheels have this but the customizability on the alarm and tilt back speeds is very helpful as I am able to set it to say, 15mph, 20, or 25 as a beginner and make sure I don’t push myself too hard too fast. Fourth, the screen really is a great thing to have! Again I have no other wheel to compare it too but is surprises me that this is the first wheel with a screen. I don’t have to turn on my phone every time I start it up just to see my speed, battery, or distance, it’s all just right there on the wheel.
All in all, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. I haven’t had to commute on the wheel yet which is why I sold my car for it, but I am sure once COVID passes and things begin to get back to normal, by that time I will be cursing around like a pro. Don’t think twice about it! As far as the wheel goes, in my opinion even for a beginner, if you want to go far and fast, this is the wheel for you. And there is no one better to buy one from than eWheels.”
