“I'm coming from the sherman max. The hight difference is something to get used to especially opening it up for higher speeds, but this thing is quick and smooth like butta!!”
“My first EUC is the V12 HT. Now this Sherman-S is my second wheel. The Sherman-S is a whole new level of EUC awesomeness! I already have about 250 miles on it in a week. I rode a 70-mile round trip from the suburbs into the Denver city. I ended with exactly half the battery bars, so maybe 50% battery. Compared to a lighter, smaller-diameter wheel without shocks, this wheel is stable, especially at higher speeds over uneven terrain. I no longer get the wobbles going over bumps in bad roads and heaved pavement sections.
I don't think I have any complaints. The display is great. I like the simplicity of the interface. Compared to other complaints online, I don't find that a separate kill switch is needed. Press the power button for a half second and the wheel is off. Press the power button again and it just as easily resumes. The distance odometer reading won't reset between power cycles until you long press a reset button, which allows me to keep track of the day's total ride distance.
I was worried about making turns on the knobby wheel based on some online reviews. I turns out that after a couple of hundred miles, I can turn as tight as the v12 ht with more of a street tire. The knobby tire is working out great for me.
I would not ride this wheel too fast until power pads are installed. The weight of this wheel required more stopping effort and distance.”
Hi Kyle, thanks for your assessment and review! The Sherman-S is definitely a nice upgrade from the V12 HT, glad to hear you're getting the most out of it. Stay safe and enjoy the ride :)
“Sherman-S remains best in class, despite being a little dated. Sherman dominated market because it has the most battery. It only makes sense that the next bestseller will be whoever produces a Sherman-S style suspension with more battery (range). This customer rides in mountainous areas and exceeds Sherman-S's weight restriction. Am range-limited by the battery and weight-limited by the suspension. Realize most attention is paid to small riders who want to race, but US-market has big riders who want distance.
Industry seems to be piddling around with new smaller EUC's for some reason? That market is saturated. If Leaperkim wants to see the sort of new-markets that opened when they jumped to 3,600Wh batteries, then make another jump to bigger batteries. It only makes sense?
A two-way USB-c PD port would be nice for slow-charging using 150W USB-c charger.
Solar-panel/battery industry went through this same race-to-higher Voltage. Solar systems finally settled at 500V, although the batteries themselves stopped at 48V, seemingly for legacy reasons. In other words, the (input) MosFET's worked best at up to 500V. Doesn't mean the output FET's or motors will work best at 500V, but it is an indication that there's a long way to go for voltage performance-improvements. There may be some advantage to leap-frogging the Voltage race, in order to achieve lower current (wire-size/weight) advantages?”
“Classic plush Sherman experience but squeezes out more speed than it's 100V predecessors. The suspension is butter.
My 1st batch S is at about 3000 mi, and there's no reason to take it apart yet.
I have my fingers crossed for an Abrams-S in the future Leaperkim!”
Glad to see this review, and that we were able to help with the speed settings! We usually send a video tutorial with these LK machines, it's good that LK is consistent across their product lineup. Stay safe out there, and make sure to always gear up!
“I've ridden most wheels that have hit the market in the past 5 years. This wheel is indisputably a
masterpiece of engineering and technology. The comfort alone, that you get from riding a Sherman S is unbelievable and so far unmatched. Given that it's only 100 volts, the performance you get from this being a high torque wheel and speeds of 50mph are very impressive! The build quality and craftmanship surpass any other EUC released thus far. Leaperkim undoubtedly solidifies its reputation as one of the best in the industry with this massive upgrade of its Sherman line. You need to buy this wheel!”
