It was our first time in Rome and we were overwhelmed with everything there was to see. Luckily Eyes of Rome gave us all the information needed and planned in every minimum detail our stay in this magical city. We had two guides, Mirta and Stefania, both amazing persons, so sweet and full of knowledge. They really made the difference! Thanks to Eyes of Rome we were able to bypass the lines at the Colosseum and at the Vatican, saving a lot of precious time. At the end of the tours, our guides gave us recommendations of where to go to eat and areas to explore. Fantastic tips! I would highly recommend our guides and Eyes of Rome for any tour you would like to experience in Rome.

Thank you Maria Linda for an outstanding tour of the Colosseum! My husband and I had already been to Rome and seen all the big sights, but this was the first trip with our (very shy) daughters--ages 11 and 14--so we wanted a private tour to cater to them. The girls immediately clicked with Maria Linda and we all ended up learning so much from her. At the end of the tour Maria Linda even gave us some great tips about where to eat and shop in Rome!

This is the tour for you if you want to visit the colosseum without any hassle. It’s a jungle out there—vendors selling selfie sticks and all sorts of trinkets, people trying to sell tickets for last-minute group tours, tourists fighting for photo ops—but with a private guide you barely notice any of it. Marida picked us up from our hotel and after a short taxi ride we started our tour from a hill overlooking the colosseum. The view was amazing. Then we whizzed through the jungle, past the long lines, and entered the colosseum like VIPS. We could tell marida was super passionate about her city’s history but she never once overloaded us with information the way that some guides do. After the colosseum we decided to add some extra time to our tour so we could go up the palatine hill and see the circus maximus (not much left of it, but hey, when in rome), and we wrapped up our tour in the roman forum. We loved this tour with marida so much we ended up booking her last minute for the catacombs the following day. Will definitely be recommending Marida and Eyes of Rome to our friends!

We visited in the summer and due to time constraints could only visit these sites in the afternoon. Fortunately the Eyes of Rome team recommended that we book as late in the afternoon as possible because it was a scorcher! We started at the Colosseum where there’s more shade and ended the tour in the Forum, which is exposed to the elements. If I had to do it all over again I’d find a way to visit first thing in the morning.

Our kids loved this tour with Alessandro. He used an iPad fully stocked with images to help us understand how everything looked in Roman times. My kids still go on and on about which gladiator costume they’d want to wear and how gross those ancient bathrooms must have been! If you really want to LEARN about ancient Rome and not just see, snap a photo, and go, then book this tour straight away.

My husband and I came to Rome with my elderly parents. I thought this tour would be a challenge mobility-wise for them but our guide Rosalba knew just how to handle the situation. There are a lot of stairs and uneven surfaces on this tour, but she made sure they took the elevator where possible, kept us on the least-bumpy roads, and insisted on finding places for them to sit and rest throughout the tour. Her patience was infinite, and all the while she wove incredible stories about the ancient Romans that kept us engaged for hours. Thank you Rosalba for making our visit not possible, but thoroughly enjoyable.

Great tour. 4 stars because we lost a lot of time in line for the bathroom at the Coliseum.

Friends recommended we book this tour with Marco from Eyes of Rome. He’s an archaeologist—can it get much better than that? We knew we were in good hands from the moment we started swapping some life stories on the taxi ride from our hotel to the Colloseum. Skipping right past the long line, Marco got us inside the Colloseum within minutes and took us on a route around the monument that avoided the large groups. He pointed out small details that we never would’ve discovered on our own. Next stop was the Roman Forum; I had no idea what to expect from this part of the tour but Marco really brought the ruins to life for us. He even took us to an incredible viewpoint on the Palatine Hill so we could get some amazing photos. We are so glad our friends insisted on booking with Eyes of Rome and Marco!
