I had one very cold room in our house that was tough to balance without our upstairs becoming a sauna. Oftentimes there would be a 6-11 degree difference between those areas. Flair has allowed me to set schedules to better balance temps and push more air to our cold room. Now it sits at a 3-4 degree difference more often than not. Haven’t been through a summer season with it yet but suspect it’ll also help there and add efficiency to our unit.

The vents do nearly everything you might expect them to. In my case, I have one floor that was getting too much heat/cooling. I paired the puck with my Ecobee thermostat, and my goal was straightforward: balance the temperatures between the two floors more closely resembling a new zone without redoing the ductwork to accomplish this. Flair let me do this; it works marvelously and was super easy to set up. My configuration is not a complex one, but the combination of pucks and vents could be manipulated to fit many advanced configurations quite easily, I imagine. _____________________________________________________________________ Pros - As my goal was to reduce airflow in one of my "pseudo zones" the fact the vent already constricts airflow due to the space occupied by the motor and battery housing was a win in and of itself. Motors are super quiet; I don't hear them change from open to close hardly at all Others complained about the noise of the air. I did not have this experience. In fact, the airflow seems quieter than the standard vents I replaced with these. No whistling, no excess sounds. Does exactly what it says it can do (and what I expected) - open and close by threshold setting on the linked puck, which, in turn, helps keep my two "pseudo zones" better aligned. What a great and cheap option to have a more balanced temperature across my house AND (hopefully) save some $$ in heating bills by redirecting heat to other parts of the house. If you have the option to wire these bad boys up, I would do that. For me, I had to go with the battery option because running wires in an already finished area were going to be a major undertaking, and running wires through duct work is really a no-no (albeit a bit tempting). __________________________________________________________________________ Cons The size of the vent was a fraction smaller than the standard ones I replaced, so you can see the gap in the paint a bit. The design is not ideal for replacing the batteries. When I will need to replace the batteries, it will require the complete removal of the face plate to access the battery housing. There is probably a better way to do this while still maintaining low visibility There are not a wide variety of designs to accommodate floor vent styles, such as wood faceplates, super strong material for areas that may receive high foot traffic (like areas that may have iron vents)

Build quality is awesome. Metal louvers, metal frame, and metal cover makes for a solid build. I like the fact that this is the ONLY smart vent that can be wired in for power so I don’t have to rely on batteries. Hoping for an expandable module to provide POE to these - not only to have power but also a consistent connection to the web instead of relying on the puck for communication.
