A really good addition to my simulator set-up. With my 3 monitor display it makes looking around the cockpit and viewing the surrounding scenery from it more realistic. My PoV switch has been rendered obsolete for normal flying. It's use is now limited to external views. It proved very easy to set up and configure a profile to meet my ideal requirements. My only problem was with the ambient lighting. Unfortunately, my system is located with a large window behind me and in the daytime the light swamped the detector. This was 100% solved by building a removable screen behind my chair. The build quality appears to be good and the reflector assembly mounts perfectly onto a golfer's sun visor. The improvement it provides is, in my mind, excellent value for money. I have no experience with other similar products but it is difficult to see how it could be bettered significantly.

A very good piece of kit - easy to set up and works well even on default setting. It needs to be activated before opening a program - it would be useful to be able to alter any settings within a program to be able to see what effect those adjustments were having. I also like to designate a button on my yoke to the pause control, but there seems no way this can be saved and so needs resetting every time before use. Apart from these niggles it is a very effective and brings realism into the game.

I purchased, Track IR 5 after thoroughly reviewing the 2 other free alternatives and came to the conclusion that although they can work, if you want to get the best system out there then you are going to have to pay for it. The package comes with software, which you update from NaturalPoint's web page. A IR Receiver/Transmitter which is about the size of webcam with 3 short tripod feed and a magnetic mount in order that the receiver/transmitter can be angled & moved to get the best signal. Most folk mount this to the top of the monitor. It sits on the 3 legs so no adhesives or the like are involved. With my setup I have it at the bottom of my monitor and it tracks great. Also included is a metal 3 point clip which is designed to be attached to baseball cap which requires to be worn for the receiver to "see" your head movement. IMHO this is not far short of "tin foil hat". I instead purchased a Delan clip for tracking which attaches to a headset, similar to Natrual Point's own offering. So what's it like, well at first horrible. I'm using it in BoS and DCS and the initial settings in the software are turned up way too high so the individual axes need tweaking quite a bit. Once that's done separate profiles can be made for individual games to tune it further. Secondly as it magnifies head IRL to head movement in game it takes a little getting used to and you require to limit your head movement when playing. However hot keys can be set up (I have them then configured to my joystick) for reset & freeze. A very good setup tutorial can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TASEXUd4Oto&spfreload=10 Once all set up its pretty amazing, I reckon that if you are playing an opponent who has it & you don't then your adversary had a massive advantage as he can naturally and quickly track what's happening around him, that would just be impossible with cursor or joystick hat manipulation. All in all, pretty expensive for what it is, but if you do a lot of gaming its the next best thing to VR and still think VR has a lot of drawbacks and issues to solve. I thoroughly recommend it for serious gamers.
