Although I received this order for Perdue Farms Fully Cooked Mild Turkey Sausage Links in apparently good order—meaning, they arrived, frozen solid, with no visible signs of spoilage—regrettably, I can’t say the same for the “taste” of the product itself…which was borderline putrid!
The sole reason for which we placed such a large order for turkey sausage links in the first place, was because of a delightful breakfast at a local IHOP. The turkey links we had there were delectable—on par with the standard pork sausage (difficult to tell the difference). We were so please with these links (which we had substituted from the pork links) that I was compelled to ask the server which company produced them.
After checking with the kitchen, she came back to report that they were from Perdue Farms. So, following an Internet search, I came up with Food Service Direct, as the distributer. We, of course, placed an order. On the morning they arrived, the product went directly from the front porch to the freezer.
The following morning couldn’t come soon enough…we could hardly wait to heat up our initial samplings, to enjoy them with fried eggs and toast…
But, imagine our disappointment when we bit into these awful things and both felt like gagging! These turkey-sausage links were not even passable, as compared with the usual supermarket counterparts—which, although not as nearly on par with pork sausages, but were at least edible!
Later, I came to discover that the pre-cooked links we received from you were not the same as what we had enjoyed at IHOP. The turkey links that the restaurant chain served were shipped—raw—with vegetable-based casings, and were similar in texture to their pork counterpart.
We did not even try to choke down more than one of the gawd-awful links from Food Service Direct, however. The balance of the 80-link shipment went directly from the freezer to the garbage can.
Well, bottom line is, I’m out the better part of a hundred bucks (including shipping), totally dissatisfied, and will never place another order with Food Service Direct again. Instead, I’ll do what I can to warn others (in the form this negative review).
