I bought it for my husband who loves to travel but my little girls and I use it daily as we talk about famous places, states, national parks, etc. There is just so much to talk about and the mats are very convenient and fun to use as compared to huge maps on the wall or googling where one can easily get distracted.

Why not learn while eating? My 5 year old great grandson thought it was fun seeing what states his other family members lived. And also where he has traveled.
