My four-year old can handle this chopper very easily, even cutting hard veggies like carrots. It takes less strength than the wooden-handle chopper they sell here because she can use both hands to press down on this one. I've been very impressed with how well she can regulate the size of her pieces using this chopper and she loves helping to prepare dinner.

My 4-yr-old son loves using this to make himself a snack of apple, banana or pear slices. It gives him such a sense of accomplishment to do it "himself" and I don't worry about him chopping his fingers off.

I really love this tool. We use it over and over in our kitchen. My son (3) appreciates the fact that he can cut carrots, cucumbers, bananas and more all by himself. We also purchased the wavy chopper with the wooden handle, but for right now, this one is easier for him to use. I would highly recommend getting one if you are interested in promoting independence (and safety) in your kitchen.

kids need supervision with this one, and as a matter of fact, parents need to devote undivided attn. as well, when using.

We purchased this and the child-sized cutting board. Together they are allowing my daughter (almost 5 y.o.) to safely enjoy cutting her own veggies, cheese, salami, fruit, etc. It's also allowing her to help in the kitchen more. Definitely recommended.

My 5 year old uses one at school to cut carrots, and she asked for one for Christmas. Santa thought it made a great stocking stuffer. I watched her use it last night to cut carrots, and I am very impressed with the ease of use and that carrots are not flying everywhere. Also love that it encourages all of us to eat more veggies.
