Swiss Vegetable Peeler - White Kuhn Rikon Peeler Reviews

4.3 Rating 16 Reviews
Read For Small Hands Reviews

Featuring an easy-grip handle and a carbon-steel blade, this peeper is very easy to use. Suited for right- or left-handed use. Includes a potato-eye remover on the side. Hand wash. 4¼ long. Ages 5+, with adult supervision. Also available in Green (D425) or Orange (D424). A note from the manufacturer: Our Swiss Peelers have a carbon steel blade – these are not stainless steel. It is always recommended that these particular peelers be towel dried immediately after use and washing to avoid rust build-up. Cooks and chefs prefer the carbon steel blades over stainless due to the fact that they stay sharp for longer periods of time. You can clean the rust off the blade by taking a sponge that has an abrasive side to it. This will clean the rust but won't damage the blade. The blade is not defective – the care and use is just different from that of stainless steel.

This peeler is easy to use and the ideal size for my toddler son's hands. Combined with the wavy chopper he can help us prepare vegetables for meals.

This peeler has been great for my 5 yr old to help be more independent in the kitchen. He has aversions to skins on fruit. He now has the ability to peel his own and eat all by himself. It is much easier than our XO peeler that I like to use. It is light weight and enables my child to pull towards him giving him a better mechanical advantage. I have not put it in the dishwasher as others have said it will rust the blade.

My kids, 8, 5, 3 loved these. They worked great! Fit in their hands well. But they were difficult to clean. I dropped them in some soapy water to soak until I could take a brush to scrub the hard to get parts. The next day the blades were rusted. As much as I liked these we will have to be returning them. Rust doesn't work in the kitchen. Maybe there are some like this with porcelain blades instead of metal you could sell?

My son has been using our Swiss peeler for over a year (he's 3 now) and so it was time to get him his own. This peeler is very easy to grip with small hands because it is narrower than mine, and the design allows him to always peel away from his non-peeling hand and peel easily! He peeled a whole eggplant tonight!

I helped with a cooking project at my son's school, and the teachers had a couple of these. They work so well and so easily for little hands I got my son and nephews each one. Safe, sturdy tools for practical living. I like using it too!

Have been using this brand of peeler for about twenty years or so... Very durable and long lasting. Easy to use, feels great in the hand and easy to change peeling styles. We recommend as often as possible. We use these peelers in our pastry shop and of course at home. Thank you.
