Children will be fascinated to learn they eat flowers, roots, and seeds. This well-organized overview can enrich any child's gardening and food preparation experiences. It compares eight types of vegetables, introduces plant growth cycles, and tells how vegetables are grown, processed, and distributed — even how to grow your own garden.Because much of the ""story"" is told in pictures, this is also a perfect book to browse with the young children. They will eagerly absorb new words and ask for more. By Gail Gibbons. Paperback, 32 pages.

My three-year old adores vegetables, and really enjoys this book. Lots of information yet easy enough for young readers, with great illustrations!

I am using this book to teach about fruits and vegetables. We will read it before (and probably after) we visit Whole Foods, The Fresh Market and Costco so we can see as many fruits and veggies as possible. We may do an art activity while there and we will buy some things and have a taste activity when we get home. My student knows quite a bit about this subject as her Mom and Dad love to cook and they try to use mostly organic, GMO foods and they discuss it a lot. This book is so very beautiful as well as informative!

Great book, with great pictures and easy explanations of vegetables. Is it a root, stem or flowering vegetable and how does it grow? I learned by reading this to my 4 yr. old son. I also think this may encourage him to eat more vegetables, which is a huge bonus!

Even I learned a lot, and my 3 and 5 year olds have been discussing what types of vegetables we're eating with dinner. Great book!

My 1st grade daughter took to school and she thought it was useful in the study of plants. My four years old was amazed by the fact that we are eating roots and stems! Highly recommend it
