Miniature Music Boxes Reviews

Read For Small Hands Reviews

See inside and watch music in the making—music boxes are a fascination at any age. Holding the knob and turning the crank helps children develop the pincer grip, and refines small motor movement. The clear acrylic case covers all the moving parts of the instrument, except the handle. We've seen many variations on this design, and this is our favorite. 3¼"" x 2"" 1¼"" high. Base colors may vary. Please note: These are not ""wind-up"" music boxes which are wound and then listened to. The music only plays when the handle of the music box is turned. The music tempo will vary with the speed of which the handle is cranked. We have seasonal tunes available here.

Both music lovers and scientifically-minded children will be fascinated by this small toy. It is simple to operate, with a little hand crank. The clear cover makes it easy to observe exactly how the mechanism works, in slow motion or fast-as-you can-go. The box is small enough to sit on a coffee table. It is almost indestructible, in its sturdy plastic case, so parental supervision is never necessary. Above all, the music (perfectly tuned) lifts the spirits.

I love hearing the music get more and more clear and steady as he learns how the box works. Plus, the look of realization when he figured out what the tune was--precious!

I purchaed three of these as stocking stuffers about two years ago. I have been very impressed with how well they have stood up to my children. They have been dropped, cranked the wrong direction, wound very quickly, etc. All of them still work. The kids like to make the song go at different speeds, they love the mechanics of it and the like to sing along.

I put this music box in my 3 year old son's stocking. He loved it! I bought the twinkle little star one and we used it for bedtime. Makes a great gift too!

My 4 year old loves cranking this little box to play music. He was thrilled with it when I gave it to him and wanted more. With it's small size, it often makes it to the bottom of the toy box not to be seen for months but when it is found it is enjoyed. Not a must have but a nice to have.

We got the "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" box as a special stocking stuffer last year for Solstice, because it is one of our favorite bedtime songs. It's so much fun to watch the kids see how it works. It seems to fascinate any child who comes into our house, much more than I anticipated it would. Children also seem to enjoy figuring out the song that goes to the tune, then singing along while they wind the crank at different speeds.
