Diatonic Glockenspiel Eight-note instrument from Sweden Reviews

4.8 Rating 12 Reviews
Read For Small Hands Reviews

Introduce children to the sound of clear, accurate musical tones with this beautiful Swedish instrument. Mozart and Tchaikovsky used glockenspiels in their works, but you needn't be a musician to successfully teach children a melody or accompany a simple song on this instrument.Children will be enchanted by the clear, accurate musical tones. They'll quickly learn the light touch that creates a ""pure"" sound.Precision-tuned brass bars span one octave of whole notes (C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C) on the diatonic (Western) scale; no sharps or flats. The names of the notes are engraved on the bars for children who are not yet reading music in standard notation. 9"" x 5"" includes two types of mallets (rubber and wood) for producing tonal variations.

Bought this instrument for our five-year-old granddaughter who has shown interest in music at an early age. She was able to play some simple tunes in a very short time. The tone of the instrument is really lovely, clear and bright, very pleasant to the ear. Even her eight-year-old brother enjoyed trying it out. I highly recommend this instrument.

My toddler takes it with him everywhere he goes. The sound is so lovely that it's easy lose yourself in the creative process of making up songs on the spot. Mom and Dad even love playing it. Simple with quality construction.

I purchased it for a musical 3 yr old. It's the perfect size and has true tone. A simple case would be a great accessory to keep it clean and unscratched while teaching proper care of a fine instrument.

I bought this gift for my son when he was 10 months old. He is lured by its magical sounds daily, initiating returning to it himself with wooden spoons and dowels to play his own tunes. It is a simple, durable and natural design. He will enjoy it for many years to come, learning how to actually play songs as he grows. I love watching and hearing him passionately interact with the sweet sounds he creates together with the diatonic glockenspiel.

I bought this for my grandson's 5th Birthday. It's not a truck or car or electrical, so I wasn't sure how it would go over with him-he's a pretty active little one. I wanted a xylophone or similar instrument with excellent tone and marked diatonic scale to really give him a musical experience. He just loves it and will sit and try to play the songs from the song book with his mom or by himself. Everyone's happy!
