Diatonic Glockenspiel Eight-note instrument from Sweden Reviews

4.8 Rating 12 Reviews
Read For Small Hands Reviews

Introduce children to the sound of clear, accurate musical tones with this beautiful Swedish instrument. Mozart and Tchaikovsky used glockenspiels in their works, but you needn't be a musician to successfully teach children a melody or accompany a simple song on this instrument.Children will be enchanted by the clear, accurate musical tones. They'll quickly learn the light touch that creates a ""pure"" sound.Precision-tuned brass bars span one octave of whole notes (C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C) on the diatonic (Western) scale; no sharps or flats. The names of the notes are engraved on the bars for children who are not yet reading music in standard notation. 9"" x 5"" includes two types of mallets (rubber and wood) for producing tonal variations.

This was on my grandson's wishlist, as he has access to one at his Montessori school. I did not expect it to be as weighty and well made as it is, I am impressed. I bought another Glockenspiel at a local "good toys" shop, for my house, but imagine he will prefer the one he has at home!

My 13 month old loves this glockenspiel. It is extremely well-made and the tones are beautiful. We have a wooden xylophone as well, and he likes to put the two next to each other and compare the sounds. We got him this one because the wooden one seemed like more of a novelty and when he liked it so much, we wanted a real instrument for him to play. We were not disappointed! This glockenspiel sounds great and seems like it will last for a very long time.

This is a great instrument. I bought it for my son when he was 3 to complete his mini instrument set. Even though he hasn't shown much interest in playing with it, I think he will probably use it once he starts learning about music. Very sturdy and produces beautiful sounds. Would recommend for anyone seeking a good and small music instrument.

My 4- and 6-year-old children (as well as the neighborhood children) love the pure, accurate and gorgeous musical notes that this beautiful little glockenspiel makes. Solid construction and beautifully tuned, it's a cherished piece in our budding musicians' ensemble. It was worth every penny we paid for it.
