Our family has had a chimalong for decades. It is a favorite for picking out simple tunes and includes a useful songbook with several favorites. The inclusion of the extra B-flat tube is great for expanding the repertoire of songs. With gentle handling, this is an accessible beginning instrument that will last. It has survived our 4 children and now our 5 grandchildren. I highly recommend the chimalong. The only major difference that is noteworthy is that the older version had a sturdy carrying case, although the closers on the case broke after a while, so it isn't a great loss.

Our granddaughters enjoy playing their xylophone-style instruments. They use the enclosed book of songs which help them play the music.
