Hi Graham Thanks for your feedback. Both products, the ones you are reviewing and the ones you have previously ordered, are made by Fer a Cheval. The current product is Fer a Cheval's own brand and is made with 100% Olive Oil. The others are made by them for La Maison Du Savon De Marseille and formulated with 60% Olive Oil, 20% Coconut Oil and 10% Palm Oil. Neither contain sulphates, an ingredient added to most readily available soaps to add lather, but the oils will make a difference, as too the temperature at the time of use and the time of manufacture. They are a 'living product' so will also vary batch to batch and as they age as well. We do stock a product from La Corvette, this is made with 60% Olive Oil and 30% Coconut Oil. https://www.frenchsoaps.co.uk/products/new-olive-savon-de-provence-100g We sell these at 5 for £15 or £3.75 each. If we can help further then do contact us. FS x

Thought I’d bought horse soap when I first read the name [horseshoe], but the soap is okay.

Hi Kevin, Back when Fer-a-Cheval was founded in 1826, companies were given names that promoted prosperity and luck. Horses & Horseshoes were both lucky emblems, and you will notice the horseshoe also have 7 nails, 7 being a lucky number. They maintain their heritage today and still make the soap by hand in old cauldrons in the original soap factory in Marseille.

Nice soap though doesn't lather quite as well as some of the others.

Hi Barry, This soap is pure and made with just Olive Oil, Water, Soda and Salt. There are no additives to make it lather, unless you have very very soft water in your area but even then there won't be a lot.
