“We purchased an 18' x 10' Destin becuase we wanted the cover over the awning when retracted to protect the material during the winter months. The cover could use more support becuase when closed, there is a slight warp in the cover. Because it is a long piece of aluminum, we couldn't figure out a way to try to bend it back in place without leaving creases.
We installed a motor after we purchased it, not realizing how heavy this size of an awning would be to hand crank. We have yet to get it adjusted just right to extend all of the way and shut off when retracting the awning. We installed it ourselves so I don't know if it would have been installed at the factory we would have better success.”
“The Awning works as expected. Although after only three months it is making a lot of noise when it motors in and out. Like it needs lubrication already. I wish I had read the description better because I wanted it mainly cfor rain but it is not meant for rain because it fills up. Works great for shade though. Be sure to have some help to put it up. The 12ft version is quite heavy.”
“Let's just say Very Disappointed in the customer service!!! The awning may be a good one, but we have issues with it and can't get any customer service. Daniel, the sales rep is clueless. We have made several attempts to get help. I offered to ship it back and was told that there were no returns accepted, and thousands of dollars wasted. “I ordered an awning and did not open and inspect it until several days later. I opened it at the client's residence. The fabric roller and the cover were bent. General Awning would not replace the awning or send replacement parts. I have had to pay 480.00 out of pocket to replace the roller. I understand I should of inspected it upon delivery, I just think it is poor customer service. The way the roller was bent would have to have been under a lot of weight or hut by a forklift. I will not recommend or be buying from General Awnings again.”
“Good looking and sturdy awning, provides outdoor space where Florida sun prevented it!
Disappointed that it took a month to be told that our choice of fabric was not available, and time from ordering to delivery, but pleased in the overall quality and usability.”
