It sounds very much like your jewellery has begun to tarnish which, although unsightly, can be fixed very quickly and easily. Tarnish is a chemical reaction which affects the compounds within Sterling Silver and the most common source is through contact with moisture in the air and substances such as perfume, water or lotions.
