“These shorts are great and I love that they just pull on. I have never liked having a string hanging out that you have to tie. I would say they run just a bit large. I am 5'4' with 34' hips and a 27' waist (120 lbs/athletic) and the small fits me well and a bit loose but I like that for these type of shorts as I wear them in extreme heat and who wants fabric sticking to you if it's not a bathing suit. If you want a tighter fit you might want to size down as I could easily have worn an XS.”
