Good course - solid refresher. However, I disagree with your dismissal of the term 'generic' in the last question. For example, the most common causes of injury for teachers are slips/trips. Therefore, we have a duty to risk assess that. However, unless these show a clear trend/location etc. within a building, control measures inevitably have to apply generically to all floor coverings/stairs/footwear type/cable control/housekeeping etc. to ensure general awareness and a general overall reduction of risk. This, for me, is a generic risk assessment.

Hello Matthew, Thank you again for taking the time to leave us a review. Sorry I have been unable to email you directly, there doesn't look to be an email address linked to your review. As promised I spoke to our content team and they have checked the course content and the assessment question you mentioned and the explanation of generic vs suitable and sufficient risk assessments. They think possible the content and question may have been misunderstood so they have asked me to pass on the following information for you. No matter what the risks are in a workplace, risk assessments must always be tailored and specific to that workplace. There may be some 'generic' or 'general' risks like slips and trips as they mention, but that does not mean their risk assessment will be generic, because they will need to think specifically about where the slips and trips can happen in their workplace. Even though this applies generically to all floors, cables etc the risk assessment will still be specific to their particular type of premises and locations of hazards. This is why it's never suitable to have a generic risk assessment (e.g. one that would simply say 'slips and trips' and state 'housekeeping' as a control), which doesn't factor in the specific business activities, layout, equipment, etc. They would however like me to reassure you that they have made a note of your feedback and if this feedback is something that comes up again they will review the course and content. Thank you again and should you need anything in the future, please don't hesitate to contact us directly. All the best, Nicola (Customer Support, High Speed Training)
