“The question about who should have a DBS to work in an organisation is ambiguous - Our cleaner and maintenance person does not come into contact with personal records or children directly and are therefore not required to have a DBS.”

They agree and they have confirmed that they are going to review the wording of the question. We advise that government guidance is followed when deciding who needs a DBS check in your setting. In relation to the positions, you have highlighted it is common in some settings that those individuals do need a DBS check and as we cannot cover every type of scenario we advise government guidance is followed before allowing anyone to start in a role with your organisation.
