“My sample of the 4SAS7 is a medium SAPI cut and measures very close to the expected 9.5x12.5 dimensions and is slightly less than 0.75" in thickness. The multi curve shape does enhance overall comfort when used to shield both the front and back of the torso. These plates are heavy with my sample weighing in at 8# 4.4oz. However, given the price, the 4SAS7 is a great value considering the ballistic, multi-hit and spalling protection afforded. If the users application requires constant use in varied terrain and environments, lighter plates would be preferred. For occasional use - either professional or civilian - in which the environment and terrain is predictable, the weight of the plates should not present a problem. I would rate Protection a "5", Shape Comfort a "4", Weight a "3". Also, the SAPI cut and multi-curve shape tends to interfere less with primary and sidearm weapons manipulation.”
