“Pre-ordered the D1000 graphene lock and it has now arrived. Looks very good. Not tried an angle grinder (or 5) on it, yet, nor do I intend to. Relying on multiple web-videos I studied before buying showing how difficult it is even for an angle grinder to cut through the D1000. Fingers crossed. Good lock, three keys supplied and option to register in case of lost keys. Be aware of the dimensions depending on your intended purpose, as this isn't the biggest D-lock. Hiplok website teams it with chains which I would have thought are unlikely to be as strong as the D1000 thus becoming the weak link. Indeed, I will be very careful choosing the street fixture I attach to as they are likely to be easier to cut through than this lock, I believe.”
“I'm into the D1000 for the grinder resistance. I kind-of hate the rubber flap/bung situation for the keyway though. It just makes locking/unlocking that bit more awkward than the Abus X+ I currently use.
I'd like HipLock to release a frame mount or the carry pouch from the original kick-starter ASAP. No way to carry the thing conveniently for me at the moment, so I'm sticking with the Abus for everyday use and I'll wheel out the D1000 when I have to park somewhere high risk.”
“Well made substantial lock that I use on a motorcycle with alloy wheels. Using a small oxford nemesis lock through the shackle allows smaller portable chains to be linked to it for additional security. Star lost for not the best communication from the supplier, but this should not put you off a brilliant lock.”
“On arrival I notice the HipLok can no longer be carried on your hip. (which is why I bought the first one). I think this is a good step in theft deterrent, however I believe any thief with common sense will probably angle grind the railings or bar that the bike is chained too. With the new D1000 in backpack, I am now aware of all the Bike points that are now weaker than the lock. The width of the lock is not wide enough to go around a lamppost, (an Item I don't believe a thief is willing to chop down for the sake of a bicycle) forcing them to attack the lock itself. Overall I have done my bit which is to add security @ just under 10% of the bike's retail value for Insurance and peace of mind.”
