Original review - please read to the end for the full update! I just received mine. Had it in my Christmas Wish List. It looks a lot darker in person and looks weird and broken. Nothing like the appetizing golden picture on the listing. It's sweet, but it also tastes piney and herby...not like typical honey. Honestly, it tastes nothing like I was expecting. The comb portion is very mushy, there is no crunch to it. It chews nicely for like 3 seconds before it falls apart into little wax pieces in your mouth. Had to spit it out. Not at all what I was expecting...taste, quality, or experience wise. I would try a different brand to get a better idea on what honeycomb should be like...it's hard to believe this is what people rave about....maybe I got the bad egg?Update: the owner reached out and explained the whole process. It was fascinating to read about the bee keeping process and what exactly the issue was. It wasn't actually an issue after all, it's just the part of the process the bees were in when the piece was sliced. They've offered to send me another batch. Which I am more than thrilled about. Really great people and great company. They were prompt in responding and super helpful. Highly recommend this company! Will update review once I've tried the replacement to comment on taste/texture.

This is the first time I've ever tried raw honeycomb. The honeycomb or the wax in the honeycomb is a dark color, not the pretty, light, honey color I've seen online. I'm not really sure of the significance of that. The honeycomb appears to have bee or larvae parts in it, I'm not 100% positive that is what it is, but it most definitely looks like it. The package the honeycomb was in did have a small leak, and just a little bit had leaked onto the outer portion of the container, not enough to cause problems. The package was boxed and then the box was mailed in a mailer. The taste of the honey is really good, if you can get passed what looks like parts of bee bodies in some of the chambers. I bought this for my daughter and I didn't say anything to her about my suspicions that bee bodies were part of the honeycomb, she took a bite of the comb and was looking at the spoon and asked me if what she was seeing was a bee. Needless to say, she wouldn't eat anymore of it.
