Firstly many thanks to Natasha for her kind, professional manner in my situation.
By now you will have found out the cause of the very bad odour when the hose is first turned on and until water has cleared from remaking coil in the retractor. The replacement hi flow hose and the one I purchased in December do not suffer the same fate.
Two other smaller diameter hoses I know of in this village both have the same bad odours when first turned on.

“I had a hoselink retractable hose for a number of years until I needed to renew it, When ordering I stated I had problems with the hose kinking and was assured this would not be a problem with the new one, Well guess what the hose kinks each time I use it.
