“Weeper hoses are a great invention to minimize water loss, and this one is well designed. In effect, Hoselink creates a tube by sewing together two sides of a long length of waterproof cloth. The stitches are spaced, so there are small holes through which the water leaks. The system is (of course) integrated with the Hoselink family and is very easy to install. I have it set with a timer, which works well (so far). The only disadvantage is that on uneven ground the volume of weeping varies according to the elevation of each part of the hose. For my specific current needs (watering seedling trees that have been planted on mounds) it is not working as well as I hoped. Water weeps out in the lower parts of the hose between the mounds but not on the mounds themselves. I’ve been able to remedy the problem by raising the weeper hose with bricks and soil. Fortunately it is a ‘local’ problem. If I create a ‘dip’ in the hose where I want water, it works well. The overall length of the system (2 x 15m hoses linked) is not causing a problem.”
“We purchased 3 of these hoses. After 2 weeks' intermittent use, one of them burst at the seam. I sent an email to Hoselink with photos and they acted very quickly to rectify the matter. They replied to my email immediately and sent a new hose without delay. A problem can occur with anything, however it is how that problem is handled that is important and Hoselink certainly stepped up on this occasion with excellent customer service.”
“Originally intent was to use in my vegetable garden. Unfortunately on closer inspection, the hose is made of PVC, generally not recommend for organic gardens. Sadly will have to wait for a safer, toxin free version to become available in Australia.”
