“Just received my Skycamp 3.0 Mini a couple weeks ago.
Pros: Great build quality all around
Light weight
Easy one person set up and tear down
Looks amazing inside and out
The mounting system is amazing
Cons: Doesn’t come with the simple extras like a shoe bag or interior lighting.
The mattress that comes with it is just shy of horrible
Doesn’t have a pass through heater hose port
All in all the tent fits my needs. My biggest need was cutting down the weight on top of my 4 door Jeep. My biggest gripe is what you don’t get for that price point. Although heavy and it took a minimum of two people to set up and tear down , my last tent was $1200 cheaper and came with lighting inside and out, two inner hanging storage bags, two outside hanging shoe bags, and a crappier stock mattress. I just hate how a company tries to squeeze more money out of you for shoe bags and an air mattress when you’ve already spent over $4000. Unless iKamper changes things up, I’ll probably buy their closest competitor’s tent when this one wears out.”

“I’ve been using the iKamper Skycamp 3.0 Mini Rooftop Tent for three months, taking it on rugged adventures to destinations like the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado, where winds reached 30 mph, and the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, with freezing overnight temperatures close to 32°F. After spending over 30 days camping in this tent, I can confidently say it’s an outstanding piece of equipment.
Key Features:
• Incredibly Easy Setup and Takedown: One of the tent's standout features is how effortlessly it can be set up and taken down—usually in under a minute—even when done solo. No extra strength or effort is needed, which makes it ideal for lone campers.
• Exceptional Build Quality: The tent performed impressively in harsh weather, including rain and strong winds. It remained sturdy with no leaks or flexing, and I felt secure and well-protected inside. Despite being 6’1” and 132 lbs, I found the interior spacious and comfortable, with ample room for two adults.
• Great Ventilation: Ventilation inside the tent is excellent, preventing condensation even in cold or rainy conditions. This adds to the overall comfort, especially during multi-day camping trips.
Practical Considerations:
• Sun Exposure for Drying: One thing to keep in mind is to position the tent to receive morning sun, which helps with drying it out quickly. I experienced some delays in breaking camp because ice formed on the tent, and although it can be packed away wet, the mattress can get damp.
• Storage Constraints: I wasn’t able to close the tent with my pillow and large sleeping bag (Phantom -18C) inside, which was a minor inconvenience but something to plan for if you're using bulkier bedding.
Overall, the Skycamp 3.0 Mini is a remarkable rooftop tent. Its quick setup, sturdy construction, and ability to withstand tough weather conditions make it an excellent investment for outdoor enthusiasts. Just be mindful of drying time and the space needed for packing additional gear. This tent has significantly enhanced my camping experiences, providing comfort, convenience, and reliability on all my adventures.”
“Tent is designed well, but the included cheap, thin foam mattress makes the tent unusable for anyone heavier than an infant. At this price point, it should come standard with the RTT Comfort 5082 mattress. iKamper support is horrible, and rude. Not to mention dishonest. You can do better with the Chinese knock off version of this tent and a few add-ons. That would save you a couple thousand dollars.....and provide a better tent camping experience. Plus you avoid their horrible support.....”
“Mostly really love it, but I am hoping that the strong chemical plastic smell coming from the map covering the shell (right above your head) will eventually go away. Still very strong now, after 4 weeks, several uses. We keep the windows open to get some ventilation, which helps. Could be fabric, or maybe the adhesive glue used? Not the mattress, which has no odor.
And adding camping pads helps to control condensation on the floor under the mattress, not to mention adding a bit of comfort.
Hopefully, it will continue to get better as we learn.”
“Went on a 3 month road trip all over the west coast this summer. I bought the mattress to fit it and didn’t use it once!!!! Just wish I bought the bigger one but was perfect for me at 5 foot 6 inches. Can’t wait to use it for my ski trips next!! By the end of my trip was able to set up and take down in less than 45 seconds.”
