“Excellent product! I'd say I'm a solid rider, but certainly not even a semi- or wanna-be pro. I train in multiple activities (rowing, running, cycling, lifting), but have begun to be drawn to long-distance MTB events. I'm on the road about 50% of the time for work, so my training schedule is varied and has to fit in with professional and personal demands. I'd heard about the HVMN Ketone Ester from some serious riders during a discussion about nutrition in late July. I thought it was worth investigating.
After a test run on a weekday ride (to make sure I wouldn't have any gastro-related issues), I used the product for the first time in the 2019 Leadville Trail 100 MTB race. I took 1/2 bottle prior to the start and the second 1/2 at the 50 mile turnaround at the top of Columbine (12,400'+). There were no jittery feelings or other odd-sensations, just a consistent level of energy that felt solid all day. I ended up taking over an hour off of last year's time. I then took a full bottle after the race to see how the recovery claims stacked up. The next day I was fatigued, but my legs and body felt solid. My recovery felt good enough that I did the Tour of Utah Ultimate Challenge ride the next weekend. I did the same protocol, bottle before and bottle after, and was very pleased with my energy and (more importantly) recovery.
It's a product I'll use again, but given the price, focus on saving it for longer events, and continue using it before-during-and after. I'm a huge believer in the recovery element of this. The taste is fine and I had no problems with it.”
