“I like having the protection from insects near the ground where they usually latch on, but my feet slide a little in my hiking boots and the socks pilled on the bottom after 5 miles. I thought these were a better deal than the hiking socks, but I would spend the money for the nicer socks from insect shield if you're going to be putting on many miles.”
“I work quite a bit in the field and typically I walk out with gators to keep ticks from climbing up on the inside of my pants. However, my current pair of gator’s strap are falling apart. In fact I was looking at buying another pair when my supervisor suggested I grab a pair of insect shield socks. They’ve been used and washed a few times. The end result…no ticks crawling up the inside even when walking through incredibly brushy areas, sitting or crouching down during botany adventures, and being out for 8-10 hours a day. Additionally, these socks are super comfortable and fit well which is shock considering I have small feet and it’s hard to find socks that fit well from toe to heel. They would make a great gift for avid hikers, hunters, or professionals who work outside. Add these socks along with treated pants/shirt and you have a solid armor against ticks latching on.”
“These socks do work, I have been cutting wood and hunting mushrooms in the woods, and walking the ditches looking for aluminum cans, and so far have had no ticks and no bites on my lower legs. Last year at this time after doing those activities my clothes were crawling with ticks and my lower legs were all bit up and itchy. I have not used any bug spray, just the socks.”
“I do like the socks, but you should offer a size XXL as the size chart is deficient. The XL socks are listed as size 13 to 16, yet after one wash
they are smaller, need to be stretched just to get onto my size 13 feet. Once on they are comfortable to wear but due to size hard to take off as well.”
“These are nice, tall soft cotton socks. I got them for my entire family for Christmas, since we all hunt. There are a lot of ticks in our area and these socks give me some peace of mind.”
“If you dared to walk in our North Carolina back yard, let alone work in the garden, you had to spray yourself with heavy duty insect repellant The ticks and chiggers were everywhere. If you dared to even step in the grass, you were doomed to unbearable itching and the danger of tick bites. It wasn't a question of being bit. It was how many bites you'd get. We also like to hike and again had to spray head-to-foot when going on the trails. When I saw Insect Shield I ordered the socks to see if they actually worked. They did. Now my husband and I have complete outfits and can work in the yard and hike with impunity. I've also sent socks, shirts and pants to my son and daughter-in-law in mosquito infested Philadelphia. Honestly, the products are incredible. They are all very well made and reasonably priced. I highly recommend them if you have bug problems. They've been a real game changer for us.”
“I do a lot of volunteer work for our local park system, mainly in maintaining native plant areas. Because of the high concentrations of White-footed Mice and White-tailed Deer, the areas are loaded with ticks. I wear Insect Shield clothes from head to toe and come home tick free every day. Before I discovered Insect Shield I would spend a half hour or more picking ticks off my clothes and body, and still would miss some. No more!”
