Insect Shield Your Clothes - Per Piece Regular Items Reviews

4.9 Rating 97 Reviews
I have been concerned for years about ticks, and have come home with a hitchhiker more times than I would like. Treating my own Diamond Gusset jeans and heavy canvas work shirt was simple to do by shipping it to Insect Shield, and the embroidery on each piece makes identification a snap in my closet. They also sew in a washing instruction tag inside attached to the regular manufacturers tag. I have a couple of buddies who battle Lyme disease, and they do suffer, this is a driving factor for me to do this, and I hated treating this stuff myself, although I do treat my boots myself. This service is a winner

When planning a hike to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, I wanted to feel confident we would enjoy a bug free experience. Insect Shield accessories have given me confidence in the past and we sent our hiking pants, shirts, socks and undershirt in for treatment. The service was quick as advertised, turn around was actually quicker even over the holiday weekend and we enjoyed a great, bug free trip. Highly recommend Insect Shield, their clothing and treatment of existing garments!

As a forester, I am in the field several days a week. Sending your favorite field pants to be treated just made perfect sense. I have several pair of pants in different styles now that are treated. I don't have to remember to spray repellent. I just get dressed for the field. The chances of being bitten by ticks is nearly gone. Thanks Insect Shield for great service and turn around time.

We live in Texas hill country which is hot and humid in the summer. We generally live in shorts and t-shirts when outside. The 2 biggest problems here are fire ants and chiggers. Now fire ants sting a bit and then itch a day or two later but chigger bites, cause at least a week of intense itching. Tired of having to use insect repellent sprays and lotions before going outside, we sent in a bunch of clothing to be treated because most of the insect treated clothes for sale are too heavy for this climate. We treated a bunch shorts and t-shirts. Using myself as a guinea pig, I spent all day working in the yard wearing treated shorts and a treated t-shirt and sandals. Finished the day with NO bites. I have repeated this for over a week and haven't received one chigger bite. My wife got a couple of chigger bites on the one day she didn't wear the treated clothes. Lesson learned. Now if we could just repel fire ants...

This is the 5th year I've IS to treat our family's own clothing. I'd give it 5 stars, but the new website is difficult for me to read (grey type) and the instructions for mailing aren't clear on the website (they are only in the confirmation email). After a number of years treating my own clothes, several times over the summer, I calculated that it was a better deal financially to send our clothes to be treated. Not only is the job IS does consistently superior to what I could do at home, it lasts a long time and everything comes back ironed! My son works outdoors and he wears his clothes out before they need to be re-treated, and his incidence rate with ticks has gone way down since IS clothing. I treat my own boots, sneaker and back packs at home, but I even send in sheets to put on furniture for the dogs, or to use camping where we don't have a dryer and wrap clothing from the day up in it. After having had lyme for 20+ years, IS clothing allows me to more confidently be in the outdoors. I really like the women's scarf/wraps, too, sold by IS!

Our family is always exploring outdoors. We moved to Rhode Island for a year where deer ticks and Lyme are an ever present threat even in your backyard or at the school playground. Insect Shielding our clothes provided peace of mind so we could still enjoy being outside. We saw a lot of ticks during that year but not a single one was on one of my family members! I’m very thankful for this service and it was worth every penny.

We've done over 40 pieces of our own clothing over the years. Insect Shield keeps us safe wherever we are. We live aboard a sailboat and spend much of our time in the tropics. We don't worry about bug bites with disease due to our Insect Shield protection. Happy repeat customers for life!

The process of shipping clothing items was easy and I received the treated items very quickly. The treated garments have been very effective at repelling ticks while mushroom hunting in the insect-dense Missouri woods. I haven't bothered to use insect spray this summer and I've had zero bites.
