Even though my dogs are on flea and tick medication, last year I came down with Lyme’s Disease. I’m pretty sure the tick was brought into the house my dogs. I have not seen a tick on the dogs since they started wearing these. Lyme’s Disease was awful and I am so happy for extra insurance.

My hound mix 45 pounds (with a deep chest and a long torso and very sparse fur) fits nicely in the size large as it keeps her covered from neck to the base of her tail. Without it she comes home covered with ticks. With it she comes home tickless! This is quite a feat in our hiking adventures which are full of groundcover and the dreaded barberry (note: the more barberry in the landscape the more ticks that you will find). I also don't find that she overheats with this on. It is a bit delicate but I feel it is a good investment so I stock up at the beginning of the season and only change them out if they get ripped to shreds. This is not due to any fault of the product but the nature of our landscape! It's important to keep the dogs cool and protected so it's a fine tradeoff. It also does very well when she swims; causes no problems or obstructions and keeps her even cooler when she comes out of the water. For the colder weather I will use Insect Shield permetherin spray on the outside of a more rugged covering.

Been using this shirt for the past two weeks or so. It’s been very hot and humid in Minnesota this summer. We just took a walk, it’s 90 degrees, sunny and humid. My dog has a double coat and black fur and wants to walk no matter the weather. We just got about a mile in and she was fine. We stopped for a drink along the way but her shirt kept her comfortable . I also lobe that it actually reaches all the way to her tail unlike other shirts we have. No bugs annoying her either. Highly recommend… and I have been!

I have been using Insect Shield shirts on my 5 small dogs (10-20lbs) for a month now and have not found any ticks on them. If you have very active, woods running, dogs you might consider attaching the shirt to their collar with a mini-carabiner, we lost one shirt due to a very keen, rabbit chasing, dog.

We live in a wooded and marshy area of northern Mass where the deer flies are awful above 70 degrees. Our dog was getting so many bites that our walks were miserable. The vest has been fantastic! It clearly repels the flies and they won’t land on his body any longer. Occasionally one will land on his ears but he’s able to shake it off easily (unlike when they landed on his back) He’s a tall & long 95 lb Rhodesian ridgeback. I measured and bought the 2XL so it would cover all the way to his tail. It hangs a little low on this belly but it doesn’t bother him. Highly recommend!
