Unlike other brands, Reptile Systems market their UV output in terms of Furguson Zones which relate to the UV indexs required for different species allowing you to easily select the lamp with the output that suits the reptile or amphibian species you are keeping. When choosing also bear in mind the distance at which you will be installing your lamp as to ensure that the correct UVB exposure is acheived, you should always aim to install at a distance of 30cm or more for reptile eye health.
The Reptile Systems Eco T5 Unit Zone 2 has been designed for animals that are categorised as Furguson Zone 2 which are Partial Sun/Occasional Basker species. These species typically require a UV range of 1.1-3.0 in the basking zone with a gradiant down to zero in the shade.
Examples include Australian Water Dragons, Emerald Tree Monitors, Green Anoles, Blue Tonged Skinks, Chinese Water Dragons, Panther Chameleons, Red Food Tortoises, Boa Constrictors, Garter Snakes, Musk Turtles and Western Hognose Snakes.

40cm = UVI 1.9
50cm = UVI 1.2
When installing always aim to provide UV gradiant using decoreation and shaded areas. For a lower UVI you may prefer to check out the Reptile Systems Eco T5 Unit Zone 1 or for a higher UVI or greater install distance check out the Reptile Systems Eco T5 Unit Zone 3 to acheive the correct UV index.
*if installing on top of mesh this can reduce the UV index so should be taken into account when setting up your enclosure
