“I came to Jimmy Joy after Huel revised (and frankly ruined) their meal powders. This was my first order, and I was pleasantly surprised.
The texture is perfect: smooth, creamy... sort of like a mostly melted milkshake. It also dissolves easily, and cleanup is just as easy since there's not clumping or resistant grit (Huel has a problem with this, making cleaning difficult unless you use the dishwasher).
The feeling of fullness is great, too, lasting several hours. This is impressive given how easy it is to drink. To improve this any futher, they'd likely have to increase the thickness of the texture, which I don't think is worth it. Keep it as is, and just drink more if needed!
Flavor is probably the weakest area (though I've admittedly only tried Banana so far). It's mild, unassuming, and perfectly pleasant. However, it doesn't truly taste like blended bananas, and it's lacking a certain punch or sweetness to really make it stand out. This may actually be a positive for most people who want to chug their shake, but for me I like to sip it and ideally enjoy the flavor.
Overall, this is currently the best meal powder on the market to my knowledge. If you're like me and looking for a Huel substitute, don't hesitate to make the switch.”
“It’s good. It doesn’t have the best ingredients, but it is good. If you want better ingredients, you’ll have to go to an all organic brand and those are much pricier per serving.
I prefer JJ more than Huel. Huel just tastes terrible to me and it does not mix as well.
I prefer both health code and kachava over JJ but their prices are higher. Both of them also taste better in my opinion. Kachava also includes super greens and is less calories. That can be a pro or a con depending on your goals.
If JJ can reduce their reliance on sunflower products, that would make it a better product in my opinion. I hope the next revision takes that into account.”
