The dishwasher should do it indeed, but rinsing the bottle directly after use has never let me down either.
If you let it sit, it will get hard to clean, sometimes a small brush could be helpful then.

“I really like this shaker, especially the webbed plastic piece just under the lid that helps prevent clumping in the shakes. It's the perfect time for a perfect plenny shake, and easy to take apart / clean / put back together. The material is lightweight and sturdy. The only thing I would say is that the top comes unscrewed far too easily, which means some risk of spillage.”
