Both masks are handmade using a traditional papier mâché press technique, which involves layering and pressing strips of damp paper onto a face mould to create a cast. The cast is then sanded smooth and coated in a fine tempera to give it a quality finish and tone.
You will find two colour choices of red or white, so you can indulge your devilish and passionate side in vibrant red or feel serene and pure in crisp white.
The women’s masks are crafted into a beautiful swan shape, decorated with acrylic paints and contrasting glitter detailing, edged with gold lace braiding and wonderfully finished with a side plume of ostrich feathers and starched fabric flowers to one side.
This winning combination adds flair, elegance and extravagance to any lady’s masquerade costume. The men’s masks are in a simple, straight-edged Tomboy Colombina half-face mask that is ornately decorated with acrylic paints and contrasting glitter and finished with a central jewel.
Both masks are secured using silk ribbon ties, but can also be purchased mounted on a stick if you would prefer.
