Donalds Stainless Wire Tightener Reviews

4.6 Rating 10 Reviews
Read Kencove Farm Fence, Inc Reviews

The Donalds Wire Tightener has a square end to allow tensioning with a crescent, box or open end wrench. A spring steel latch holds the cog securely in place. Designed with a wider cog, this strainer holds more wire and can be used with 1" Ponyrail.

It is a good product and does not need the special strainer handle. Kencove has always served me well.

I like the square shank for adjusting the tension, since I always have an adjustable wrench in the truck. The wire tightener's that need a special tool are good, just don't always have the tool with me when I need it. The locking spring is less than ideal, It's easy enough to disengage, but awkward to hold open if you need to release the wire tension. Works great as a light duty tightener.

I don't like these tightener's the teeth on the wheel seem smaller not allowing the ratchet handle to grab sufficient to tighten. when tighting frame and wire that holds wheel seem to tweak becoming unsquared.

I think these are awesome strainers, however, I ordered a box of 50 and 10 of them needed to have the wire catch put in because it was not in place. Though this is a great strainer, it shows a lack of attention to detail.

These are the most user friendly tightners I've found. They have a square on the end of the shaft that's handy and are easy to release to pull slack also.
