This tool crimps all Kencove sleeves. Long handles provide leverage to make crimping easier. Each tool is tested and adjusted prior to shipping. With proper care, these tools will last a lifetime. Made in China. 20¾in length.
“This crimping too is cumbersome to use. The jaws do not stay aligned causing the crimp sleeves to be deformed when crimped. The jaws to not open wide enough to get over the 12ga crimp sleeve so you have to slide it onto the crimp sleeve from the side which usually moves the crimp sleeve. I will be finding a different crimping tool.”
“The rubber hand grips slipped and turned under my hands every time I used the tool, until I wised up and just slipped them off of the tool. Bicycle handlebar grips are not sized the same, otherwise I would suggest just replacing the stock grips in that fashion. Just wear some good gloves and you'll be fine. Other than that, the tool worked fine.”
“I haven't ever crimped a fence before, but this is definitely the way to go. I stretched a 500ft section of 100ft rolls of 2x4 no climb horse wire, 13 wires (28 sleeves) per join, with a backhoe(!) for a super tight fence and every crimp held. The long sleeves are the way to go since you only need to use 2 per wire instead of 3. Crimping made a much straighter fence and saved me hours and hours of time compared to wiring each end to a post. It also saved me many feet of fence material. If you're "on the fence" about whether or not to crimp, have no doubt, it works! The sleeves are rated stronger than the wire itself, so they won't give. Crimping will save you hours and hours of labor compared to joining at each post, or wire twists at both ends. You also lose 1/3 of the wire strength when using wire twists, but there is no loss of strength using the crimping technique. All the materials for crimping will pay for themselves many times over due to the labor saved.”
“I haven't used any other large crimping tool before, but this did the job. It is already calibrated for the correct pressure at the factory, so you don't have to do that when you get it. The only criticism I have is that the jaws don't open quite enough to fit over the wide ends of the crimp, so you have to put it over the crimp sideways, then adjust the crimp before closing. Works fine, just takes a bit of extra time. That's a design issue though, not a build quality problem.”
“I ordered this tool and it arrived the day before I needed it. At first, it would not open up enough to put a sleeve in the slot. I had to have it the next day, so I took it apart to see if I could make it work. There was grit and weld splatter in the handle. The bolts were already starting to gall even though I had only crimped one sleeve. I quickly saw that the gear teeth which synchronize the jaws were binding. I filed the rearmost tooth in both jaw halves until it would open enough to accept a 2-3 sleeve in the second hole (the 2-3 position). I cleaned up the parts, filed down the galling, then greased all of the moving parts. Now it works fine. It seems to have all of the features of tools costing four times as much but it is not made of hardened steel and will wear out. However, it now works and will probably last as long as I'll need it. From some of the other reviews, some units must work well right out of the box. So apparently it is a crapshoot. Dare quality leaves a lot to be desired.”
