“I have light-medium brown, very fine hair that is about 30-35% gray. I recently used Khadi Ash Brown. My goal was NOT to entirely cover the gray, but to minimize hopefully producing light brown/blond “highlights” on the gray hair. So far, so good. The Ash Brown might be a bit dark (only washed it once after coloring, to date). Typically my fine hair takes color well, but also looses the color readily. I formerly use chemical hair color (Natural Instincts), but as more of my hair faded to gray, I found that the chemical colorant caused a lot of hair breakage, which is when I switched to a natural colorant that is no longer available.
Too soon for me to determine if the Ash Brown shade I chose was ideal. However, the product colored my hair well and has not damaged it—no breakage or coarseness.”

“I had tried a different brand of hemp color with bad results (no coverage of grays or change in hair color at all), so I was a little hesitant trying another hemp brand. I’ve used it one time and followed the instructions, except kept my color on for TWO hours instead of one and I’m really impressed with the results. I have really dark brown hair with gray at my roots. It doesn’t give as much coverage as chemical dye obviously, but it did cover my grays pretty well where it blends in, and I am satisfied with the results! I will definitely continue using this product. One thing to note: immediately after rinsing the henna out, your hair feels stiff and it was difficult to comb/brush. I did manage and hoping after my next shampoo/condition it will be softer and the color does not fade right away!”
Hi there,
For optimal gray coverage, make sure to use our color primer- Color Prep, before coloring with our Ash Brown shade next time.
Also, yes, it's normal for hair to feel stiff and dry after coloring and within the 24-48 hour development period. Hair feels fabulous and silky smooth after the first shampoo.

“I am so glad I found Khadi! I started coloring my hair 8 months ago using henna and indigo. I have medium brown hair… but after months of trying to get the right match, my hair was very orange/red. This is not a good color on me and I was ready to go back to conventional hair color before I found Khadi. Ash brown took the red out and gave me back brown hair. It’s darker than my natural color but does lighten after washing.”
Hi there,
Your results sound beautiful!
We're so pleased you didn't give up on coloring your hair naturally and go back to coloring your hair with conventional artificial hair color!

“First time using henna and it was easy to use, went on well and was nice to know I wasn't subjecting myself to chemicals of traditional hair dyes. Will use again!”

“I have been using khadi for a few years and I really like it. The ash brown is just the right color to match my original hair color. I make a white clay mask for 10mn before applying khaki and it seems to help fixate the color. I love it and feel relieved to think that I am using a product that can cover my whites while not harming my health.”
Hi there,
It's our absolute pleasure to share our products with those looking for a chemical-free alternative to color hair! We appreciate health as much as you and are happy to have you in our khadi family!
