“This was my least favorite color I have tried because it was much darker than I had anticipated. It made my hair a muddy dark brown with very little gold in it. I will now have to lighten my hair and color it with a lighter or brighter color. Typically I love Khadi though.”
Hi Paula 😊🌿 Thanks for your feedback! We’re sorry to hear that our Golden Brown wasn’t what you expected and turned out darker than you wanted. Please be aware that khadi Natural Hair Color does not lighten your initial hair color. If you like to lighten your hair after coloring with khadi, there are few methods you can try. In general we would advise against using chemical whiteners of any kind, as this can lead to unwanted reflections.
Try the following natural methods: First wash your hair with an alkaline shampoo, then carefully heat coconut oil and/or olive oil in a water bath and apply a generous amount to your wet hair. Leave it all on overnight and shampoo as usual the next morning. You can do this treatment about once a week.
Another good method you can create natural highlights by spraying water with lemon into your hair and then going out into the sun.
A slightly quicker but less gentle method is: Mix the Deep Charcoal Cleanse Mask with 1 msp baking soda, 4 tbsp vodka and 4 tbsp lemon juice, then add enough water to achieve a creamy consistency and apply the mask to damp, freshly shampooed hair. Leave the mask to air dry for 45 minutes and then rinse it out with clear water.

“I was using ash brown which was an amazing beautiful color. I used it for a year I got asked about it all the time. And then I wanted to change to lighter color more to brown because it would suit me more I sent an email to Khadi customer service and they were so helpful to choose the best mix for me so I used this color in addition to sunrise with the ratio they gave me and how to use from now on and it looks amazing I love it!
