“I love using turmeric in my cooking for taste and health reasons. It is great in curries. But this small bottle is over £7. It is organic yes but I can’t see how that justifies this huge price when compared to alternatives.”
“Tumeric is probably best known for its use in cooking, but also for its purported healthful properties when used in supplement form, particularly where the curcuminoid curcumin is emphasised. It’s a spice I’ve only periodically used so can’t really comment upon it’s effectiveness over time. I am aware though that not all turmeric products are the same, and that if one is going to take it then it’s best getting it from a trusted supplier to ensure potency and effectiveness, so am pleased to evaluate this powder from KIKI Health.Looking through the list of benefits said to be associated with turmeric is quite impressive so it’s probably a supplement that for me who is in fairly good health anyway will be more of a health assurance than anything else (but that’s no bad thing!).It seems that with some turmeric supplements the bioavailability may be quite low, but here it appears to be pretty good, of which the label is encouraging stating highest absorbability and grade available, and a full spectrum of powerful actives. It also states that the variety here is that used in herbal remedies rather than cooking, so it seems to be particularly nutrient dense, with a good amount of naturally-occurring curcuma. As such, if one is going to try a turmeric supplement then this is probably the way to go. As I’ve been particularly impressed with other products from this supplier, I have equal faith in this one.I like that the powder is created from quality ingredients, is organic, is pure (being free from additives of any kind), and that the formulation is designed to preserve as many of the vital compounds as possible (which is always important).Effect-wise, it’s difficult to say as yet. I certainly don’t feel any worse for it, but am particularly keen to keep using it to see what effects it may have on my overall health in the long run. There’s plenty of research regarding the advantages of curcumin though so I think it’s worthy of longer-term use to properly evaluate.Taste-wise it’s not bad at all for turmeric. Obviously, it tastes like turmeric but is quite palpable nevertheless. It mixes quite well too, and seems to be fairly versatile. I’ve used it purely in water, and goats milk at this point of time, but it’ll get incorporated elsewhere when I make up further blended drinks. The bottle’s a decent size so will have a reasonable amount of servings in it. Decent price for it though. For anyone wanting to add turmeric to their diet then this is an excellent place to start.”
“This product came very well packed in a jar type bottle just as the listing shows. I could smell the strong smell of turmeric upon opening the jar, and it was extremely orange in colour so I have to say, yes, it is quite potent. It also tastes very strong, too, and I guess this is because it is naturally made and is a 100% pure ingredient which has been grown and made with love and time. I plan to add this into food when cooking up meals as it seems like a very premium jar of organic turmeric.Price wise, it does seem quite expensive at £7.96 for a 150g tub, but I am not exactly sure how much turmeric costs as I do not purchase it often, so I am not really sure if it is actually cheap in reality.”
“Turmeric has both medicinal and culinary uses and this premium organic turmeric powder by KIKI Health can be used for either purpose. This turmeric powder is carefully produced in India and is 100% organic – it has a very pleasant gingery peppery flavour and is really lovely in spicy dishes. This turmeric powder contains the bioactive compound Curcumin which has proven health benefits, so as well as tasting good it offers certain medicinal benefits too – these have been widely reported. This turmeric is supplied in a brown glass bottle to protect it, and you get 150g for just under eight pounds currently from Amazon – a top quality product but at a premium price. If you just want bog-standard turmeric for cooking you would get better value elsewhere – but for for ticking many of the right boxes this premium product deserves consideration. We will probably buy it again – five stars for quality if you are happy to pay the price.”
“There are no problems with the quality of this product, its packaging or its presentation. The turmeric is certified organic and it comes in an amber glass bottle which blocks UV light, thus preserving the chemical integrity of the contents. So far so good. The reason I've docked a couple of stars is this: the product is overpriced. Wildly so. I know it's organic (as all wholefood supplements should be) and sustainably harvested and fairtrade and packaged in a non-toxic recyclable container, but the same can be said about the organic turmeric I habitually buy from Sevenhills Wholefoods. The RRP of this Kiki Health supplement is £9.95 for 150 g, which equates to £66.33 per kilo (at the time of writing this review, the Amazon price is down to £7.96, which equates to £53.06 per kilo, not, as erroneously claimed on the product page, £53,066.67 per kilo - the product is overpriced enough without making it seem even more so!). The Sevenhills organic turmeric I buy costs £9.99 for 500 g, which equates to £19.98 per kilo, meaning Kiki Health's turmeric is more than three times as expensive, gram for gram. (I've once bought a kilo of high-curcumin-count organic turmeric from Ausha - also premium quality, also fairtrade - and it cost only £13.95.) So there's the proof that Kiki Health's organic turmeric is way overpriced - the vast majority of what customers pay goes towards packaging and profit, not the product itself. One addition that could have somewhat justified the overinflated price would be piperine: a compound in black pepper, which has been shown to increase curcumin absorption by 2,000%. To consume a curcumin (turmeric) supplement without simultaneously taking some piperine is to massively miss out on getting the maximum possible benefit. Kiki Health should reformulate this supplement by adding some piperine from organic black pepper. To make it even better and further increase synergistic positive effects, some organic ginger root could also be added. That would result in a more bioavailable and beneficial supplement. It would also go some way towards justifying the inflated cost. Constructive criticism.”
“The potential benefits of turmeric are easily found online.this is a good brand and the product is organic, which is essential for concentrated product like this.the capsules are easy to swallow and leave very little after taste.the dark glass bottle should keep the contents fresh for longer.”
