“I received this thermometer as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and I couldn't have been happier to get it! This thermometer is almost as close to perfect as you can get! The app is so easy to set up and you can even add different family members to separately track temperature, symptoms, medications, and an actual diagnosis if you go to the doctor! That is by far my favorite aspect of the thermometer because having a 2.5 year old and being pregnant with my 2nd child it can be hard to remember exact temperatures and symptoms.
The thermometer itself takes temperatures quickly and seemingly accurate. My only criticism is that it seems a little big for a 2 year old's tiny ears. It doesn't really go into the ear as it does an adult. With that being said, I don't think it's as accurate on a toddler as it is an adult but it's still close. It seems to be close enough to the forehead thermometer that our daycare uses that I would still rely on it to detect a fever in my toddler.
Overall, this thermometer is a definite must have for families of all sizes!”
“About 3 years ago I got my first Kinsa thermometer and I fell in love. It was the best thermometer I had ever used with my children. Unfortunately, about a month ago, that thermometer died due to some child related mischief. When I received the offer to test out the new version of the Kinsa thermometer from the Stellar Product testing Panel I was overjoyed!
First of all, this thermometer is super quick and convenient with squirmy toddlers and under the weather kiddos. It takes only a couple of seconds to get you a reading on how hot, or cool, your little one is. After providing you with the temperature, either a smiley face or a frowny face will appear on the screen. My 3 1/2 year old LOVES this feature. She has come to associate the smiley face with feeling better soon and the frowny face validates her if she is feeling icky. When she's not feeling good, she will ask us every few hours to check her temperature with the Kinsa thermometer so she can hopefully see the smiley face.
Second, the updates to this thermometer are great! The thermometer comes with a cover for the ear piece that snaps on super easily so you know your thermometer will stay clean in between uses. The app is super cool too! I really like that it charts some of your information for you to share with your pediatrician. My little ones haven't gotten sick to the point of visiting the doctor since I got this, but I look forward to having it at my disposal when that time inevitably comes.
The one reminder I would share with everyone is to ensure you are cleaning your thermometer between every use! The last thing you want is to let sick germs or ear wax sit on there for (hopefully) months on end before you need to use it again, but the accuracy of the thermometer will also decrease as this gunk gets built up in it. It's super easy to clean though! Just take a cotton swab and wipe off the part that you stick in your, or your kiddos', ear. Sometimes I use just a little bit of warm water if any ear wax gets stuck. Either way, it's like a 25 second process and then you just cap on the little cover and you are ready for your next use!
Overall, I highly recommend this to anyone, but especially those with young kids!”
“The Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer works great and is easy to use. Ear thermometers usually give you a more accurate reading than the no-contact thermometers.
This one is great on its own but I love using the app. You download it and it immediately picks up your thermometer as long as it is turned on. The thermometer uses Bluetooth and you can set a profile for every member in your family and it will record their temperature. This is so convenient especially when you have more than one kid that is sick , you don't have to write it down or try to remember what kid had which temperature.
I've used a past Kinsa ear thermometer and this one is more convenient because you just press the button once instead of holding it down to get the temperature.
We use this thermometer every day for our kids to make sure they don't have a temperature before they go to school or other activities where they will have a temperature check to make sure before we send them. The readings are accurate from what I can tell. We have a no-contact thermometer that says the same 97.7 temperature for every person who uses it but the Kinsa gives a different temperature for each kid so I know it's working.
There are no special covers you need to buy. This one you just use and clean. It has a probe cap for storage. It comes with batteries so you don't have to worry about those and it even tells you your battery level so you know when to replace.

“Kinsa Smart Thermometer for a sick day win! Stellar Product Testing Panel came through big sending us this amazing smart thermometer to test out. Sick days are hard and get even harder when you have multiple kiddos. Kinsa covers all bases when it comes to temperature readings. For starters, within the app, you're able to add multiple family members, so remembering recent temp numbers is a breeze. This was by far our favorite feature of the app! It keeps everything organized and compact within the app. The app is really easy to use and set up. It requires Bluetooth, but considering we always have our phone on us, that's not an issue. Initially, we made an account, logged in and added the members of the family. The app is extremely easy to navigate and change from user to user. We strongly feel that the app and thermometer gave us accurate temperature readings. To test this, we took temperatures multiple times to see how much the number fluctuated. This is the thermometer you didn't know you needed. We were really pleasantly surprised at all aspects of this thermometer and app. We would suggest this to all our friends and family!”

The Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer arrived just in time (right before my 5-year-old and 2-year-old came down with colds), so I was able to put it to good use! First, I LOVE how easy and quick it is to use! My 2-year-old is not a fan of having anything in his ears, but he didn't even react to having the Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer in his ear! There is no clunky plastic cover that you have to worry about putting on or changing out afterwards, and once it's in the ear you get an accurate temperature reading in just a second—before your toddler even knows what's happening! Plus, I can say goodbye to writing down the time and temperature and remembering where I put it! By downloading the Kinsa app, the thermometer uses Bluetooth to share each temperature reading with my phone (and my smart watch). All readings are shared in chronological order, and the app tells you if the fever is considered mild or high. Each child has his own profile in the app. Even better, I can add to the app when I gave medication, which type of medication, and the dose! I even compared the temperature readings from the Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer to an oral thermometer to check the accuracy, and I got the same exact readings. “I am a mom of four children under six. We have tried many thermometers in the past. This thermometer is my favorite. I was able to set it up very quickly with the app. This thermometer read my child's temperature within seconds of me pushing the button. It was so easy and quick.
I downloaded the app and was able to add all my children within a minute of turning it on. I love the app. It is very user friendly. My favorite feature of the app was the fact that I was able to add symptoms of my child along with the temperature. Everything on the app is easy to understand. I like how the display shows previous temperatures. It helps when comparing how my son is feeling during the day. “Wow - I didn't know what to expect from this thermometer but I have been truly impressed!
I've been using the thermometer for a few weeks and I'm loving it so much!! It was so quick and easy to take my children's temperatures. I felt like the thermometer was super accurate and reliable which gave me so much peace of mind.
I also really love the app - my kids LOVED getting to choose their own little avatars and we made one for each person in the family. It's SUPER easy to use. I love that it keeps a record of temperatures so that we can keep track of what each person's normal range is. It also is so helpful if someone does get sick because I can tell the pediatrician exactly what the temps were and for how long—I always have trouble remembering these things when I'm already anxious about my kiddo being sick. So being able to easily pull up that information is amazing. I will say though, I like that the thermometer is totally usable even without the app. Of course you miss out on all the features without the app, but it's nice that it isn't required to be able to take temperatures.
I'm super grateful that it's easy to clean and doesn't require ear covers like another brand I had. It was getting really cumbersome constantly having to replace covers, especially when someone was sick and I had to check their temperature often. “I use a lot of smart products and this was one of the easiest to set up and offers such a clear and meaningful value proposition! Two key benefits that stood out to me as to why I would go with Kinsa over other thermometers are:
1) Get immediate custom advice - really easy to set up a profile (without giving a bunch of personal data) and assign each reading to a person. It then asks you a couple of quick questions about symptoms and gives a suggestion on whether to: do nothing, call dr, call dr now or ER. They use age and the info you give them to make these and have nurses check-in later if serious symptoms occurred. When you have a sick kid the last thing you want to do is spend 20 minutes googling symptoms and agonizing about what to do - I love how simple this makes it!
2) Get alerts about outbreaks in your area - COVID has obviously made us more sensitive to this but this is an obviously useful feature that I would not have known to want, but love now! Because Kinsa has data about high temperature and others symptoms they can notify you if there are outbreaks in your area which greatly increases speed to correct diagnosis.
